Kathleen was so welcoming, home from home. Breakfast was very tasty with plenty of everything while looking at a beautiful view. Our ensuite room was spotless and very comfy. Special mention to Holly and Buddy ❤
We have just returned from a one night stay in Atlantic House B&B. Kathleen was there to greet us at the door and couldn’t have been more helpful. We were welcomed and everything was explained to us and the place was very safe, following all COVID-19 protocols. Our room was clean, spacious and perfect for our one night stay. There was a hairdryer and if you needed tea or coffee facilities and any toiletries they could be provided, too. We drove to Castletownshend that night and ate in Mary Ann’s Bar and Restaurant - highly recommend! Breakfast the next morning was delicious! Great selection and cooked fresh and to order. We especially liked the local honey! Even though it was a quick visit, we couldn’t recommend it enough if you are staying in the Castletownshend direction.
We arrived in the early evening after a long, scenic drive from Cahersiveen. Kathleen and her friendly dog welcomed us warmly as she told us about their village's festival that was taking place that evening. She suggested a restaurant for dinner and said it was close enough to walk back. Her daughter was leaving and very kindly dropped us off at the restaurant in town. After dinner and some wonderful local entertainment, we easily walked back to the B&B. The room was larger than most with sleeping arrangements for three guests, was spotless, and well-appointed with a very comfortable bed, chair, and beautiful linens. There was plenty of room for our belongings. The bathroom was immaculate and larger than most we had during our visit to the Emerald Isle. Towels were clean, soft, and fluffy, there was plenty of hot water, and the shower pressure was excellent. Individual toiletries were offered in the bathroom. Kathleen and John have a small refrigerator In the upstairs hallway with milk available for their guests, a most thoughtful touch. The peace of the countryside envelopes the property, so sleep was easy and restful. The following morning, Kathleen served the most delicious breakfasts and chatted with us about their lovely sun room, where we ate breakfast, and the large and beautiful outdoor patio. The views of the ocean are stunning from the front of the property, including the sun room. It is obvious that they care about their property and make the effort to maintain it perfectly. We absolutely loved this B&B (one of the nicest we stayed on the trip) and if we are ever fortunate to return to this charming corner of Ireland, we would definitely stay with Kathleen and John again! If your Ireland adventure will bring you to this area, you owe it to yourself to consider a marvelous stay at Atlantic House.…
Using sat nav we managed to find the narrowest roads possible, in the rain, having briefly lost the Wild Atlantic Way signs to get to this lovely B&B (our mistake as it is really quite easy to find from Skibereen). However, we had a lovely welcome from Kathleen who sat us down to delicious home made scones and tea on our arrival. The views from here are stunning. For breakfast I had the full Irish which was enhanced by genuine Clonakilty black and white pudding, cooked to perfection. We had dinner at the nearby Mary Anns pub in the village on Kathleen's recommendation and the food here was excellent. Definitely a place to revisit if ever we are in the area again.
My stay at this charming B&B was just made so special by Kathleen and her warm hospitality and John and his fabulous cooked breakfasts. The Atlantic House is easy to find and is roughly an hour and a half drive from Cork airport. The rooms and whole guest areas that I visited are spotlessly clean. The hosts are so warm that you feel comfortable straight away. It is a good idea to tell Kathleen when you are arriving so she can plan her day around the arrival. We were welcomed and shown to our room which was lovely. Immaculately clean which I loved as I slept like a log on my first night. What I noticed coming from London was how quiet the area is and breathtakingly beautiful. A walk up the coast road leads you to Sandy Cove beach where gulls bob up and down on the water catching fish. The scenery is so picturesque. There is the most spectacular view down to the sea from the B&B and the most gorgeous flowers including roses in full bloom adorn the garden. The family dog is super friendly too. Kathleen is a local and is so helpful and will help arrange trips and recommend where to go. She may be a bit biased towards Baltimore...😄 where a few basking sharks had been spotted. We visited Mizen Head on her advoce and saw loads of seals. John's breakfasts are delicious. The black pudding from Conakilty is amazing as I do not really eat it and found it really palatable and tasty. There is parking available and Wi-Fi reception was good. I will definitely be coming back here. This place is made special by Kathleen who is a hurricane of energy and friendly and no nonsense at the same time. My kind of woman. I fell in love with West Cork and the people that live there. My stay at the Atlantic House B&B just enhanced that impression and the trip so enjoyable.…
