Beautiful old hotel, we went in for a quick lunch and the menu looked so good we had a couple of courses and stayed longer than we should. It was worth it, the food was great and service first class, everybody had a smile on and couldn't be more helpful. I can't wait to go back especially when we have...

Had the pleasure of a night at the peacock and I have to say I've stayed in many hotels, but this was special. A beautiful small but totally elegant and charming hotel, and all the staff i thought made it a fantastic stay. Our 4 poster room was beautiful, large yet soo comfortable with a great marble bathroom. The food and service was...

High standards throughout both in terms of service, food and accommodation, It will now become our hotel of preference in the Peak District. At last a hotel that is not over decorated for Christmas, but subtly done.

Incredible service. Staff were so friendly and professional. The food was out of this world. Cocktails amazing. Atmosphere romantic and relaxing. Room was cosy. Completely worth every penny. Left feeling totally rejuvenated.

Stayed here on business with my team and it was exactly as I had remembered when I stayed here about 10 years ago. The service is first class and very friendly with nothing too much trouble. Perfect sized rooms. The food was amazing - breakfast, lunch and private dinner. Bedrooms were homely. You will have stayed in more luxurious hotels...

Arrived for wedding anniversary evening. The room was adequate with very comfortable king size four poster bed. However the bathroom was so small, it had clearly been formed out of a cupboard to make an ensuite. Unfortunately the water was tepid at best. When we mentioned it we were told that 'the boilers weren't talking to each other' which was...

We had a truly lovely evening with an exceptional meal and in beautiful surroundings. The Staff were lovely and just "nicely attentive" rather than over bearing. We would highly recommend staying in this great hotel

Excellent quality. Grand welcome and service. Drinks and light lunch - just the right amount of food to savour the tastes and quality. Quirky old building. It was a cold wet day and the log fires gave a warmth and the quaint aroma. The service was grand in that we were really looked after. Coats taken and we were escorted...

Enjoyable stay from start to finish. Service was spot on - always helpful but never intrusive. The suite accommodation was immaculate - full of period charm, but contained all mod cons. Dinner & breakfast were cooked perfectly.

It's a tough line to draw between attentiveness and creepiness and the staff at The Rowsley don't quite get it right. It's a hushed hotel, peopled by staff and residents who are being very reverential about the whole foodie thing, which I don't really mind except when it becomes over-attentive. They were very nice about us dithering over dinner etc,...
