Second visit, as we were so pleased after our first visit last November. Overall, excellent, and would have warranted the full 5 stars like everyone else seems to have given, but visitor beware, DO NOT outstay you welcome by staying after 10:00am, as I sadly found out yesterday. My fault, granted, but really? SEVENTEEN minutes late loading the car, and an eye watering 28 minutes late actually departing? I was admittedly distracted by the tv when we should have been gathering our possessions and loading the car, when I heard doors slamming close by in the room next door presumably.....the 'hint' which I took when I looked at my watch. Jumped up, and shot down to commence loading the car, only to be followed out by Sarah who strode up to me and stated...." I don't want to embarrass you, but we do ask our guests to leave by 10 am, and I have a friend due here to see me at 10:30 too. Why you thought it the right thing to do to come out and 'tick me off' instead of politely knocking on our door slightly earlier to remind us, is totally baffling and beyond my comprehension. No, you made me/us feel very uncomfortable.... FACT. I apologised and continued, shot back in, collected the remaining items quickly, paid, got out of there fast, in the car and drove off. A bitter taste remained in our mouths for the rest of the day, and even now, 24 hours later due to the brusk manner in which I was scolded. I felt like a naughty schoolboy, It was totally unnecessary IN MY OPINION. Such a shame as the stay was superb until then, but don't worry about "not wanting to embarrass me" in the future Sarah, as we won't be visiting again, as was in our plans for later this year. Nor will my daughter and partner who were also planning on a visit on our recommendation. Yes, we VERY clearly outstayed our welcome by a total of 28 minutes, and that was made crystal clear, for which I DO genuinely apolgise for again, as it WAS my fault. Just a shame you couldn't have been slightly more diplomatic, less rude, more lenient and forgiving and just muttered under your breath to yourself perhaps rather than 'hunt me down'. £250 to be told off? Never again. Lesson learnt.…
Stayed here on Saturday. Met with tea and cake in the garden - sun was shining and chickens at our feet - brilliant. Room (the back one) had lovely views over the fields. Very clean. A great power shower and a tray for tea/coffee etc. Big comfy bed. Able to choose the time and the items for our cooked breakfast the next morning - choices included a Derbyshire oat cake. Had a great stay - hosts were very friendly, couldn't do enough. My only comment would be to anyone wanting to eat at the local pub - The Old Dog - beware - last food orders are 20:00 and it closes at 21:00! Well suited for Thorpe Cloud and the Tissington Trail. Loved our stay - we'll be back. K and S
The Station House B&B is ideally located for exploring the Peak District whether by car, or for the southern end, on foot. Steve and Sarah have a lovely B&B, with great views out the back. The room I stayed in was very comfortable with a good power shower. The breakfast was easily enough to set you up for the day and very well cooked. Both of my hosts were very friendly and ready to pass on local knowledge to help extend my view of the area and to make improvements to walks that I had planned. The place felt like home within a few minutes of arriving.
I had a wonderful stay at Station House. I don't have even the smallest suggestion for improvement. Steve and Sarah were very helpful and made themselves available when I needed some walking tips. I recommend the back room for a lovely view. Excellent fried breakfast with Devonshire oatcakes...!
Excellent rooms which were spotless and extremely comfortable. The breakfasts were first class and the hosts could not do enough to help make our stay the best possible!! Perfect location for cycling and walking as close to great locations. Fully recommend to everyone wanting a great getaway.
Steve and Sarah (the owners) were brilliant hosts. From start to finish they were both very friendly and kind. On arrival, they offered us drinks and cake, which we enjoyed sat outside in their lovely back garden. The room I stayed in was very comfortable and tidy. Breakfast was very nice and the portions were generous! Overall, as a family we enjoyed our stay. Would be glad to visit again. Thank You Steve and Sarah
We had a fantastic stay at Station House - the rooms were perfect, the view delightful and we were surprised with delicious scones and tea on arrival sitting on the lovely terrace. The B&B is ideally situated right on a stunning bike trail.
What a lovely B&B. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable, the location is ideal for the Tissington Trail, Ashbourne and Dovedale, breakfast was spot on and the hosts charming, friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable too. I loved it and will return.
My husband & I stayed here for one night after visiting Alton Towers. On arrival we were shown to our room & offered tea & homemade cake outside as the weather was pleasant. We sat in the garden of the property which had lovely views over nearby fields. We had the opportunity to meet one of the cats (Tiffin). The owners also have a few hens which were wandering around the garden. The hens apparently lay eggs daily & are served at breakfast. I was chilly on arrival so asked about heating & the owners promptly switched it on. The room was comfortable & clean with views overlooking the quiet lane at the front of the house. There was a lovely little box of essentials that you sometimes forget (plasters, razor, shampoo etc). There was also tea/coffee/hot chocolate, biscuits & fresh milk provided. We went to the local pub in the evening (I think it is called The Old Dog) which is around a 5 min walk from the B&B. It is a warm & cosy country style pub with bar snack style food. The bed was warm & comfortable & the location was very quiet, making for a peaceful night’s sleep. The breakfast was tasty & cooked to our liking. We got to choose what we wanted & what time we wanted it the evening before. I asked to see the hens before we left & the owner kindly offered to come out & feed them & tell us all about them, which was a lovely personal touch. Before we left we went for a walk into the village of Tissington on the Tissington Trail which you can get onto directly next to the B&B. It is about 1.5 miles into Tissington. I would definitely recommend this B&B as a place to stay & would certainly return if in the area again! …
The couple who run the B&B are so warm, welcoming and caring. We arrived, helped with our case and shown to the lovely room, before having homemade fruitcake and tea on the patio, overlooking the field with horses, plus watching the chickens foraging in the beautiful garden. The rooms are comfortable doubles with en-suite, it’s peaceful, very clean and have everything you need.you got a little flask of fresh milk for your tea too. Breakfast is lovely, and they were so careful with my allergy. Local bacon, homemade bread and their own chickens eggs. Plus the full continental / cooked breakfast things. Parking is off road. Pub just up the road, walking distance. Truly perfect 💜
