I booked this property in March 2021 for 12 people, for a family wedding local to the property. I paid the deposit at the time and the full balance when it was requested, 6 weeks before we were due to stay. I was sent the check in information pack etc via the 3rd party company I booked through (Sykes Cottages). A week after I had paid the remainder of the cost in good faith, I had an email (not even the courtesy of a call), to advise me that unfortunately my booking was being cancelled 5 weeks before we were due to stay. The property is being refurbished and would not be available until June, amazing that this was not known the week before the balance was paid or during the past 11 month the booking was made. I now have to find accommodation for 12 people, in the same area which undoubtedly will be far more expensive. Disappointed in the total disregard for the chaos this has caused us trying to find another place to stay on such short notice. I am sure the property will be great for those who actually get to stay there. Book at your own risk! …
Stayed for Christmas week as a family of 12. Excellent facilities, plenty of space for everyone. Nice welcome pack waiting for us on arrival. Some rooms in desperate need of renovation but the property was clean.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Musty and Ali last year. The location is picturesque, - so much so, we didn't want to leave. The hosts are so very warm, friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was superb. Will most certainly be returning in the very near future.
My wife our children and their friends with their respective families have just stayed over Christmas at this amazing house. It is situated on the edge of Thorpe overlooking Thorpe Cloud. We occupied 5 double rooms 4 with en-suite bathrooms which were of the highest quality. We had full use of the facilities which includes a large lounge area with leather settees, a massive dining table which allowed us to all sit down and not have to move the jigsaw puzzle we were doing!! Also there is a tremendous kitchen equipped to a full catering standard with everything you could need. Every aspect of the house oozes quality - the shower in our bedroom (2) was amazing and would not look out of place in a 5 star hotel!! The linen and towels were also top quality. The heating system was unreal as we had to go round turning down the radiators as we were too hot!! If you want a place to relax and enjoy some family time and have access to the glorious Derbyshire Peak District then I fully recommend Hillcrest House unreservedly.…
The owners make this B&B what it is. They are warm and welcoming including the lovely little dog Finn. They are really knowledgable and helpful on suggestions. Breakfast is lovely and tasty. Really nice selection including hot and cold. Would highly recommend staying here for a Peak District base.
The usual warm welcome from Musti and Ali. Nothing too much trouble, and the accommodation and breakfasts as good as ever. Strongly recommend this location for a stay in the Peak District, in an area of first class scenery
Hillcrest House is the ideal location for anybody wishing to walk/visit the Peak District and in particular, Dovedale. The accommodation is very nice and spotlessly clean. It stands alone in the countryside with beautiful views and is really quiet. The host, Musty, could not have been more friendly and helpful. Whilst I don’t eat breakfast, my wife does and she says that it is the best she has had anywhere. If visiting the Peak District again we will certainly choose to stay at Hillcrest House.
The owners & staff are fabulous. Nothing is too much trouble. Very good breakfast. The setting and views are just great. Its near Dovedale but away from the crowds. We did a circular walk from the B&B
We were three adults with 3 Spaniels and stayed in the Cottage which is attached to the main house. What a delightful experience; really friendly hosts (Musti and Ali) with superb knowledge of the numerous walks and attractions in the area. We were made to feel totally "at home" in "their home" and although we were self-catering (in the very well appointed cottage with ideal facilities) we enjoyed Musti's beautiful breakfast. Lovely garden with plenty of furniture; an adjoining field to run our dogs, and an abundance of domesticated and wild life for added interest (their dog Fynn was an absolute delight!). We vowed we would return when the opportunity arose.
We've just returned from a three night stay here. The B&B is situated outside Thorpe but there is a pavement into the village nearly the whole way out to the B&B, so you can walk into the village with ease. The B&B is clean and the hosts are very nice and welcoming. Our room was not large, but large enough for us and had great views. Breakfast was very good, with all sorts of home made preserves and bread. We can here for walking, which is very good right from the B&B, and Dovedale is just a short walk away. There are two downsides to this B&B. One, which is minor, is that driving out onto the road has quite limited views in both directions, and is slightly scary, considering that vehicles seem to drive past quite fast. They do provide a mirror to help with visibility, which is very welcome, but in the other direction, their property sign blocks the view along the road Secondly, the only food nearby is the one pub in the village which is quite good for food and is a pleasant 1km walk from the B&B , but that closes early on Sundays for food and does not provide food at all on Mondays, I think. You'll need to travel a few miles further out to find alternatives. altogether a great place to stay, but with limited evening meal options nearby.…
