An amazing getaway with our 2 year old at the old smithy. Right from the beginning we felt at home. With the fresh eggs and milk to the delicious cake left for us on arrival. The place was immaculately clean and modern with our highlight being the open plan master bedroom with free standing bath. A peaceful location with only the animals making any real noise which we loved. Our boy loved feeding the friendly sheep the digestives biscuits which were supplied. A five minute walk down the country lane is the red lion pub which we took advantage of on the first day opening from lockdown, food delicious. Everything was literally perfect including the super friendly hosts. Will definitely be returning!!!!

We had a fabulous time staying at The Mews at Hall Farm. Philipa (the owner) was very welcoming and ensured we had everything we could possibly need during our stay. The accommodation was absolutely stunning and cleaned and maintained to a perfect standard. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and the living space was spacious and very comfortable. Both children and adults enjoyed getting to know the sheep and lambs in the field adjoining the property - they were excellent neighbours and were always happy to see us (and the digestive biscuits)! The hot tub was very well maintained, easy to use and enjoyed by all. The accommodation was in a brilliant location for exploring Ashbourne and the surrounding areas. There were plenty of beautiful walks on the doorstep suitable for all ages. We all had a baa-riliant holiday!!

My fiancé and I were lucky enough to be able to spend 3 days at Hall Farm and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. With busy jobs it was so perfect to be able to escape the madness which COVID 19 has brought to such a beautifully peaceful location. Philippa is a lovely hostess, making sure we were very well looked and after, and giving us the low down on good places to visit. The accommodation itself is spotlessly clean and really cozy- really great for chilling with a glass of wine on a chilly winters night. We also really enjoyed meeting the sheep (Larry the lamb was our favourite)- and it was certainly the first time I have ever fed a sheep a digestive biscuit (apparently it’s their favourite!!). There are lots of things to do nearby to keep you entertained. Besides an abundance of walks in the beautiful countryside, there are also a number of great restaurants too. We visited the Lighthouse restaurant (15 minutes in a taxi) for their tasting menu- and it was probably one of the beat meals we have had in a long time! We cannot recommend this place highly enough, and given travelling abroad will be difficult in these difficult times, this place should definitely be at the top of your list of options!

What a stunning house, just perfect for a relaxing and luxury holiday. Our amazing host even greeted and put away our Ocado delivery due to a car issue. We also got to feed the gorgeous sheep - who are so friendly and our children loved them!! Great views from the garden and nice and private, without feeling isolated - As Philippa is on hand should you need anything (and we did 😂) The house is just perfect and beautifully decorated, with everything you need. Lovely shower gels/cleaning products etc. The hot tub was fantastic and just beautiful to sit in when the nights were clear, gazing at the stars. The kitchen has everything you need and you can cook all your meals there - we really loved the breakfast bar layout, which made the lounge such a wonderful social area. Showers and bath all fantastic and we truly can’t wait to go back!! We really did not want to leave and the surrounding area has plenty to do also.

We stayed at The Mews having waited a long time to be able to celebrate a friends special birthday. It was definitely worth the wait, the property is absolutely stunning and lived up to all our expectations. It was warm and welcoming, as was the host Philippa - we hope to celebrate many more special occasions there once these crazy times are over. And the local pub is just a stroll away, if you can tear yourself away from the gorgeous fireplace!
