We stopped off at the R&C en route back up North. First thing that struck us was the friendliness of the staff who showed us to our table and looked after our every need for the rest of the evening. The next impression was the quality of the wine list - we went for a Sancerre at the price you'd... More

We stayed at The Rose and Crown following a wedding and were very happy with the room and facilities. Very reasonably priced as well. Also the owner made every effort to make sure we had a comfortable stay which always makes a pleasant change.

We were on holiday and had just spend a very long and tiring WET day at Alton Towers. We were travelling back to our hotel in Dovedale in search for food! We spotted this nice local pub and decided to take the risk, we didn't know where we would next find food on our journey. I can safely say that... More

There are not enough stars in five to rate this pub. The menu brings on one of those indecisive moments when you can't make up your mind on what to choose. Every meal is one that you would like to order. The meals, which are cooked to order, still arrives at the table in quick time. The quality of the... More

We stayed here for a wedding this weekend and it was lovely. We arrived early so we had lunch which was excellent. The room was nice and clean and the owner was very friendly. We would definitely stay there again if we were visiting friends in Ashbourne. Also the food and accommodation were both excellent value for money.

We didn't stay here but came for dinner at the recommendation of a friend. This was the absolute best meal we had in our 2 and a half week vacation all over England and Scotland!!! Danny is an excellent chef and Henrietta a wonderful hostess. They were two of the friendliest people we met. We were in the Peak District... More

It completely exceeded our expectations - the room was perfect for our family, lovely, clean and fresh feeling. Breakfast was great and dinner even better! Our children have never raved about food so much - even our fussy eater! All the staff were lovely to... More

Had lunch here as we were walking in the area. Nice pub/restaurant. Staff were friendly and efficient. We had baguettes with bacon, brie and cranberry / steak which were excellent. The desserts were even nicer! Sticky toffee pudding and Belgian chocolate brioche bread and butter pudding with icecream. Couldn't fault the food in any way and very reasonable prices. Can... More
