We have just come back from a short stay in Kasbah Bab Ourika and had a wonderful time. It was a 2 day stop over after a few days in the frenetic chaos of Marakech, and a very welcome rest. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the rooms were very well appointed and had the most spectacular views. The restaurant...

We stayed for two nights and had a wonderful time. The room (one of the smallest ones) was large and with a good terrace with sunbeds. Bath was good with shower, bathtub and a great view. Staff was friendly and seemed happy. Breakfast was great, except the orange juice actually - might have been the season, as it was fresh....

We stayed two nights at this wonderful traditional styled kasbah in a large suite with lovely views of the hills and Berber villages below, crowned by the clear summit of Jbel Toubkal over the gardens and terraces. There are many quiet corners in which to relax and escape the buzz of Marrakesh. The vegetarian choices for lunch and dinner were...

We were lucky enough to be part of a group that had exclusive use of this magical hotel for three (long....) nights. We must have been incredibly tiring guests, but the quality of food, hospitality and staff congeniality never dropped an inch, while the little touches such as a fire being lit in our bedroom whilst we had dinner never...

Breath-takingly brilliant. The owner, Stephen, had an amazing vison whenh created this place, and the reality is unbelievable. Having been upgraded to the most incredble suite, this was always going to be good .... but it went way, way beyond that in every respect. To start with, the grounds are remarkably well-planned. The extensive terraces, patios, secret corners, viewpoints an...

Astonishing location in the mountains. Rooms had beautiful views, and the bathrooms were terrific. The Berber omelet for breakfast was a culinary high point in a country of delicious food. But food quality at dinner varied from outstanding to only ok. Manager was a bit scattered.

Drove up to this beautiful hotel and it looked fabulous.... Staff were great but food really was bad! Starter was cold in the middle (tasted like pre frozen tart) and main was bland and tasteless. Totally not worth the crazy drive up there! We went for dinner also so didn't even get to see the great views as it was...

Just returned from four days in this magical tranquil place. The views were amazing with the snow capped mountains in the distance and the gorgeous gardens in the foreground. The views from our room were extraordinary. Some rooms have fireplaces which are lit in the cool evenings. The lovely Joanna and all her staff were so gracious and welcoming and...

Despite indifferent weather we had 3 wonderful days with exceptional food and service. Every need was catered for and Jo went out of her way to help us. Comfortable rooms with amazing views and a good fire to keep us warm in the evening. Great area for walking with lots to see and I had an excellent guide in Hassan....

What a setting! Our room on the top of the hotel with its own terrace looking out on the High Atlas Mountains was comfortable with amazing views from each window. We went hiking with a guide right from the Kasbah into the foot hills which was a wonderful experience. The lunch on the pation was delicous as was our dinner....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bab Ourika perches majestically on a hilltop at the apex of the Ourika Valley, guarding the gateway to the snow-capped Atlas Mountains – yet it is only 45 minutes from Marrakech’s International airport. With 360 degree panoramic views, this innovative new hotel receives warm sunlight all day, ending in spectacular sunsets. From its unique eyrie-like position it offers a birds eye view of the Atlas, of traditional Berber villages and of the lush river valley below. The Kasbah is one of the most eco-friendly hotels in Morocco; constructed principally from rammed earth, the traditional Berber building technique, it seems almost to have grown out of the rocks beneath. The thick walls provide such good insulation that air-conditioning is unnecessary. Solar panels provide hot water for the hotel and and the underfloor heating in the dining and bar area. Soon a biodigester will provide electricity and compost not only for the hotel but also for the village below. ... more   less
