We’ve been staying at Rukahovi quite regularly, expecially at the apartments. It’d ”you get what you pay” kind of stay: location next to everything is superb, the apartments/hotel rooms are outdated. Shouldn’t surprise anyone that has seen the pics on their website. Cleaning has some issues (it’s not easy to find personnel). The service at the main hotel is always excellent. (Well, this Christmas everything seemed to be organized international guests in mind and that should’ve been told when booking dinners etc., but in broader scope we’ve been really happy with the service.)
We really appreciate the location, price and in the apartments being able to make own food and floor plan is nice: it has little rooms (not soundproof though, but the area is divided so you van watch TV when kids sleep and there some privacy for remote work). Kids can play out ”in our yard”. It’s also nice to book a stay from a hotel chain on their terms (compared to private persons, when changes may not be that easy to make). Also Scandic Friends program is a nice bonus.
However, if you wonder why people have given mixed reviews, it’s because the apartments differ A LOT. You can have renovated bathroom + old beds and your nextdoor neighbour may have looks-like-mould kind of bathroom and half way fallen door, but new beds. The apartments (even if looking for only for five ones) have different branded appliances. It really bugs me that you don’t know what you get. The differences are so obvious that even the kids can spot them. I hope the Scandic chain would take care for Rukahovi hotel and apartments in a bit more systematic way.
So, if you’re looking for a basic level stay with amazing location, this lottery may be for you.

The room was clean, the staff very friendly. It was still quiet and peaceful.
There is no entertainment or anything to do in the hotel room. You can't connect your own computer or phone to the TV, or watch anything in your room at night. That's a big drawback.
The soap used in the hotelrooms is very strong-smelling. It smells like old Old Spice perfume, and that's not a good thing.

Stayed in the apartments during Easter. The location is great near the main center. Parking is tricky and the road to drive is very narrow. The apartment is quiet good with an amazing view. The fan and stove didn't work well and kitchen equipment are not good. When we arrived in the room we notice that it was not well cleaned (toilet was not flushed and there was dust and hair on the floor). WiFi didn't also work during whole of the time of over stay. With small efforts these apartments would get a much better review.

Just back from a week at this hotel booked through Crystal Ski. Very nice hotel. We booked a superior room with balcony overlooking the ski slope and village centre, cracking view! Room very spacious, comfortable bed, tea/coffee making facilities, heated cabinet to dry ski gear, spacious bathroom, good shower with plenty of hot water. A super nice room.
The hotel staff are all excellent, very helpful and friendly. Gave good recommendations for trips out…. much cheaper than through Crystal Ski. Food was all buffet style, breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed the food, lots of choice and good quality… particularly the fish offerings. Stunning views from the residents dining room. Comfortable lounge/lobby/bar area. Spacious ski lockers. Sauna.
All in all, an excellent hotel right in the village centre, literally a few steps from the gondola. We highly recommend this hotel for a winter break. We loved our stay!

We had booked a package holiday with TUI for 7 people. Two of which had their own separate booking as I (grandmother) was taking 4 children along whom all had special needs and my self who is terminally ill. When we arrived we was told that two (who had the separate booking) would be staying in the hotel however the rest of us would be in the apartments which was a “5 minute walk”. I wasn’t impressed as I was under the impression we would all be staying at the hotel as we have our breakfast and dinner here and our bus for our activities booked would be outside the hotel. However after being taken to the apartment and having to walk back down to the hotel for our dinner that evening I was now furious the walk was 20 minutes down a steep slippy hill and with being terminally and receiving treatment it was definitely a struggle. We spoke to one lady at reception who initially said it would be no problem to change and have rooms within the hotel “as there was plenty of space” however when we asked the next shift of staff they were extremely rude, unhelpful and literally laughed in my face they said there was only 1 room left in the whole hotel which was a suite that fitted 5 people and it would cost €538 more I then checked on the websites there was plenty of room like the First Lady had said, so i asked several times to speak with the manager and finally he gave me a call which was completely pointless because he had an even worse attitude he stated “pay the €500 your not having it for free so I hope you go and make that complaint” I have never been treated so badly in all my life especially after paying so much money to create magical memories and for the duration of the holiday I had to struggle 20 minutes to just even eat. Not to mention that the bathroom has an awful sewer smell and they don’t come in to give you toilet paper or fresh towels. The staff have the worst reception extremely rude and I’m glad to never return again!

We had a fantastic time at Scandic Rukahovi! The hotel is in a perfect location, right near the slopes, making it an excellent choice for a ski trip. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was calm and relaxing. We really enjoyed the breakfast, which had a great selection, and the restaurant food was delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making our stay even more pleasant. Everything was just as we hoped, and we would definitely return.

When you choose Scandic Rukahovi, you will be staying right in the middle of Ruka resort. The have both "standard rooms" (long time ago renovated) and "superior rooms" (fairly fresh). Whilst we were staying only one night arriving in the evening and leaving next morning right after breakfast I had booked two standard rooms, but the receptionist managed to take use of their offer an pay 20 euros extras for superior rooms. The rooms were spacious, fairly fresh, with views to the Ruka fjell and well working. The beds were comfy. Breakfast was sumptuous and served in their old restaurant with plenty of space that was highly appreciated by the guests during pandemic times. There was also complimentary parking available. Good price value and strongly recommended.

We stayed second time at Scandic Rukahovi, but this time we stayed in the separate apartment rooms, room for six persons. That apartment was quite far away (500 meters uphill) from the reception and it was not nice to walk that distance with all the luggage and skies. Anyway location was close to one slope and still it was easy to walk without luggage to the "village". Apartment itself was really old and little bit untidy. Kitchen table lamp was fixed with tape... I would recommend cleaning company SOL to anyone. There was no double beds at all. Positive was private sauna, heated cabinet to dry cloths and privacy. Price wise it was OK, and all linen was included as well as full kitchen with all accessories. Would be nice to have late check-out, but that wasn't possible at the time when we left, apparently hotel and apartments were fully booked?

Unfortunately we do not provide service to deliver the luggage but our staff should recommed the taxi for the first arrival to apartments. We will go throuhg your feedback on the cleaning with our head of the housekeeping and make sure that the staff serving the apartments would be more precise to inform our maintenance about the technical flaws in the apartments. Use to be very good and nice hotel 20 years ago, but not recommend anymore. Summer time no air condition and rooms are very hot, +30 celcius, impossible to sleep. Breakfast very poor, very messy, empty bowls and table cleaning very slowly. Just visited before this hotel Lapland hotel chain and breakfast was amazing. No own car park or very small outside, have to pay 15 € extra per day using parking hall. We book President suite for 4 persons, but beds was made and available only for 2. When asking from reception they made two beds for sofa, so not ready when arrived. For much cheaper, almost half price, just next door available very nice new apartments with 3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and sauna. In apartments you can make breakfast yourself or many places to eat just next door (10€). Do not recommend this hotel anymore to anyone!

We do understand that during this extremly warm summer one would appreciate air conditioning in the room but unfortunately this has not been installed to our hotel at all and we did struggle with the heat in all of the hotel. We had some table fans available to the rooms but they ofcourse do not do the whole trick. We have gone through your feedback with our housekeeping to make sure that the extra beds would be waiting for our guests upon arrival. And thank you for your comments on breakfast. The service is friendly and it's a big hotel with a lot of corridors filled with rooms. The saunas are on the third floor. The breakfast is on the third floor via a corridor, but the view from there is great. They have everything you need for breakfast (pancakes for children, cereals, karjalan piirakka, sausage, meatballs, beans, eggs, bacon, bread, fruits, youghurt and so on). The room was clean. But it's an old hotel so keep this in mind..the room was so hot during the night in the Summer that the had to keep a window open (not a good air circulation). And after a shower in the morning we went for breakfast and when we came back the while room was moist and smelled funny..so keep the window open during Summer. On the first floor there was boardgames for free to play/use and a pool table (pool cost something like 10 eur per hour). There is also a big restaurant and bar on the first floor. They don't have a drink menu, but you can order and see if the bartender knows how to do this drink. All in all, it was a good hotel near everything you need during your stay (walking distance everywhere) but it's an old hotel.

Yes. Kettle, coffee, tea & hot chocolate.
Not 100% sure, but if I remember correctly, there is.
We went to a resort nearby last year. Was after Xmas tried to book the Santa village which was about an hour away but was given our money back because there wasn’t enough bookings. Could have got a bus there but wouldn’t risk it myself. You can hire clothing. We only had my 9 yr old grandson with us. It was his first ski, he loved the holiday anyway. Scenery amazing, it is so cold, if you decide to do the husky rides I had all the correct clothing was hands and feet still cold. Well worth going though.
Most likely yes, at least there are some tracks opened with last winters snow.
