Went there with crystalski and was shocked we didn’t have to check in or get keys. Received a letter from the rep stating our 5 digit numeric code to unlock the apartment door which was really simple and very welcome. Also had a code for our individual ski locker downstairs. The apartment was very functional but well laid out. Bed was fine but pillows were small. Make sure you check the drawers as the extra towels are in there. There is no housekeeping all week. We had a studio (rukavillage30 on the official website), so we were entitled to breakfast in the attached Colorado bar. Breakfast was ok but the same each day. Some people came from other apartment blocks but nobody ever questioned if we were entitled to a breakfast. It was very relaxed. The drying cupboard in the apartment was really handy. The sauna was great too. It seemed like everything was well~thought out to make your stay as relaxed as possible. Use the supermarket for cheaper beer and snacks. At first, we thought the Finns were a bit miserable, as they never went out of their way to be friendly but as soon as you talked to them, they changed their attitude and were very chatty. I guess they are more reserved than we are. All in all, the apartments were ideal, especially being a few paces from the gondola and main chairlift. Worth a trip but I doubt we will return as the 30 runs aren’t enough to keep you interested over 6 days of skiing. They were relatively easy compared to the Alps but don’t let that put you off because everyone appreciates a piste to themselves at some point! We paid to see the northern lights but saw nothing. Decided to just walk outside at midnight onto blue piste 6 and saw an amazing aurora on two separate nights for free.

We stayed for a week in February 2022 as advanced skiers. These apartments were wonderful. Spacious, modern and cosy. The sauna was a delightful treat. All apartments have a utility area which was unexpected. The bathroom was warm and extremely clean. The entire hotel is essentially brand new. No key required but instead a code is used which is modern and helpful. Wonderful breakfast and dinner options available. The hotel catered extremely well for myself as a vegetarian and my partner who is vegan. A particular mention to Yona who worked in the restaurant who was extremely attentive and went above and beyond to help us, particularly with allergies within our party. We could ski right up to the hotel entrance, next to the Gondola, with the locker room metres away as well as a mini-supermarket. We could not have wished for a more perfect stay. We have previously stayed in Ruka Village but enjoyed Ruka Valley even more.

-This hotel is close to everyhing. Only 50 meters to skilifts and when coming from the slopes you were able to ski almost to the entrance of the hotel (maybe 10 meters from the door) -Room was nice sized and there was also a balcony -Small kitchenette had everyhing you'll need; small stove, dishwasher, fridge, coffee maker, electric kettle, classes, plates, pans etc -Supermarket only 30 meters -Sauna was a bit small but really nice to go in to after all day of skiining. -There was also a cabinet drier where you could but your skiing gear to dry. -There was no keys to the doors, you got a code as SMS berofe arrival.

I went back to RUKA (my second visit) in January 2020 with my friend, who was having his first visit. There was just the two of us, but we each wanted our own bathroom and bedroom, so this apartment fit the bill. It had two twin rooms (one en-suite) with a smaller third room having a double and single bunk bed. The sofa could also be slept on if required. While 8 people could stay here it would be a real squeeze. A family of 4 would be comfortable and it was plenty spacious for just the two of us. The under occupancy supplement was well worth the money as the apartment was exactly what we were after. The hot tub and sauna were very welcome sights at the end of the day! The kitchen was very well equipped with a fridge freezer and cooking facilities. There was a large dining table with 8 seats and tv’s in both the master bedroom and lounge area. There was a large double shower and washing area next to the sauna with a separate toilet. There was also a good size hall way leading into the apartment with a rail for hanging coats and a large drying cabinet. The Colorado restaurant was 1 floor down and you could walk to it without having to go outside. Breakfast was here daily, but the choice was very poor. Every day the same - stodgy porridge, some short frankfurter type sausages, small bits of bacon, 3 plain cereals, toast and fruit with salad, of all things! No waffles or pastries like you usually get. I ended up buying my own cereals and just having the toast with marmite I had also bought. Being a veggie there was little choice for me. Classic pizza is also attached to the building and is well worth a visit. I had my first blue cheese pizza there and my goodness the flavour was out of this world. We ended up eating there 3 times it was so good. The apartments are perfectly positioned to walk out straight onto the piste and a chair lift and the gondola are all right there. There is a heated locker room downstairs, all key coded so no keys. Same for the rooms, we really liked this set up. Reception were friendly and helpful and the apartment was mostly clean. A few missed spots like hairs on the cushions and a bit of dust but nothing major. I would stay here again quite happily and would recommend it to anyone. My friend thoroughly enjoyed the skiing on offer and the night sledging was a lot of fun. We went for the polar light festival and it was so worth it - very impressive! RUKA is fantastic and we will return in future. I’ve done many of the resorts in Finnish Lapland and RUKA is one of the best I have been to.

I travelled with my wife and five year old son for Christmas week. We upgraded to a “G” apartment with a hot tub and it was a really relaxed week. The apartment had three separate bedrooms, two twins and one with bunks. One of the twins was en suite There was also a sofa bed in the living room together with a full kitchen including hobs, oven and dishwasher. On the other side of the apartment was another toilet, the ski changing area, double shower, washing machine area, large sauna and then on the enclosed terrace was a hot tub. For three people it was loads of room but I think it would still be comfortable with a family of five or six. The accommodation is right in the centre of the small town. Ski slopes are across the road, lots of restaurants in town and a reasonably sized supermarket. Downstairs in the hotel there is a great burger restaurant called RUOK and a sushi restaurant. We decided to go self catering as with the large apartment there was no point getting a five year old ready for breakfast downstairs in the Colorado restaurant every day and we are glad we did as we had lunch in the Colorado and it was expensive and not great. It was our first time in Ruka and it was great to see Santa etc especially with a five year old. The skiing is quite limited as the runs are short and not very challenging but so are the lifts so you are up and down quite quickly. There really are hardly any queues for lifts (even during Christmas week) so it is pretty quick. The ski school was very good and my son enjoyed the two hour daily lessons - far more than he did in France earlier in the year. I think Ruka is better suited for families with younger children due to the Lapland thing and because the skiing is quite limited. It’s an excellent place for beginner skiers although it can be very cold. We won’t return every year but we will come back again in half term probably before my son is eight, as I think it would be a good place for him to start to learn to snowboard and we would definitely stay in the Ski-inn apartments again.

Good location and clean(ish) room, but the positive feedback stops there. For the last two years we have spent a whole week in the same room and everything looks good at first. They do not let the customer know when there is a big renovation going on nearby. Most hotels and apartments would not dare to give these rooms to paying customers. Since the walls and floors no dot hold any noise, it is like living in a construction site 24/7. The noise is so bad that you will have to use earplugs during the day time and cant have any conversation inside the room. So if you have pets or small children that stress about loud continuos drilling and hammering sounds, this is not a place for you. There is no warning about noise hazard when you book the room or even when you arrive at the apartments. No discount, no nothing. 2 years in a row with a room like this, we are done with this place.

Hi tiittis, Thank you for your feedback. I am really sorry to hear that and my biggest apologies for not informing you about the renovation. We don't have these kind of renovations often and it is a really sad to hear that it has been like that when you have been staying here. Ski in/ ski out is a reality here. The room was great, with more space than we could have imagined. The sauna, shower and drying cupboard were all amazing. The attached restaurant is also worth a visit (breakfast is OK, dinner much better!)

Great location and not a bad standard as far as facilities are concerned, but some shockingly arrogant rude staff . We booked the largest apt G which was very spacious for 2 adults and 2 kids however we was charges £1700 more for the week for under occupancy. It was for 8 but that was 2 sleeping on the pull out sofa and a bunk bed for 2 kids so 8 would be a little crowded. It was our first time in Finland and was warned it was expensive and that was true, we didn't mind as we were on holiday, for example a cheap bottle of wine was 50 Euro so each meal was costing between £150 to £250 with wine depending on were you ate. There is adequate cooking facilities in the apartment. It was very close to the ski lift which is great. The hotel bar is good as is the Colorado restaurant which is ribs , steaks and burritos which was all ok, but the staff were so rude, first night I gave 8 Euro tip on the 172.00 Bill and didn't get even an acknowledgement or thank you or anything so that was the last tip I gave in the Colorado and with no tip the response was no different so I didn't feel guilty as I like to tip staff. We didn't let the miserable staff get to us and had a fabulous holiday at the Ruka Village and it is worth a stay however Christmas dinner at the Colorado was burritos which was different and fun.

I probably can't add very much to what others have said, but here goes... The hotel is right in the middle of Ruka, the ski bus stop is 2 mins walk away, as are various lifts to other parts of the ski area. We are a family of 4 (sons aged 14 and 11) and chose an E1 apartment with bed and breakfast option. Lovely, cosy, apartment (you will not need thick pajamas!) and wonderfully practical to stay in. We had no issues fitting our skis and poles into the lockers. We travelled with Crystal Ski who were friendly although their staff gave differing information about ski hire/lift pass details for the last day - that might need sorting out for next season to avoid any confusion. We had been skiing many years ago in Spain and Austria but never felt confident. Thankfully our beginner ski lessons with Marko built on previous knowledge and we had a great week. The last two days we skied all over the resort on a variety of lifts and slopes. Ruka is lovely for families and people happy on blue and red runs. Our children were beginners apart from 2 lessons at our local snow centre and they were nearly as good as us by the end of the week. The are other things to do as well like tubing and tobogganing. Plenty of nice eateries in Ruka - we ate 3 times a Vissilika (nice staff, tasty menu with children's menu too), twice at Classic Pizza (super friendly staff - huge pizzas which can be taken away in a doggy bag), once at our hotel (Colorado Restaurant) - super tasty fajitas and once at the lovely (and slightly more upmarket) Kuksa restaurant. Did not have a bad meal anywhere.
