This is a great little spot in Levuka. Claras daughters make a yummy breakfast that changes every morning. Sometimes its a combination of eggs, fruit or pancakes. It always comes with tea and toast with jelly. The showers and toilets are all shared but they are very clean and the rooms are quaint. Its perfectly situated nearby to grocery stores and restaurants and the sea front. Clara even got us in touch with local guides to take us hiking (thanks Clara!!) When we wanted to extend our stay for 2 extra nights they were very accommodating with that.
This is a surprisingly large place with quite a few room and dorm options. When we were there, there were only 2 other guests - so shouldn’t be a problem just to turn up. Double room came with a fan and breakfast, but no AC.
It’s spotlessly clean and right on the seafront, although the arrangement means that there isn’t a sea view. It’s too basic to have anything like a ‘travel centre’ but the owners were really helpful and helped us book our next move when we asked.
Overall, a good value no frills option.
Tip: make sure you return your room key the night before to get your deposit back if you are heading back to Suva on the 4AM bus/boat.
I stayed at Clara's (Formely Mary's) for 4 nights. Owner very kind & informative. Breakfast of eggs, toast, tea & fruit good but simple. Accommodations very basic and a little run down, epically the shared bathrooms. Couple minutes walk to main Levuka.
The lodge, which is now Calra's lodge, looks out into the sea and is only a one minute walk to the shops. The included beakfast was really basic and so were the shared bathroom facilities. There was no hot water when I was there but I didn't mind at all. They were laid back and really helpful with any questions I had about places to see and transport options. I only paid $40 a night for a single room, which I believe is the cheapest you can get in Levuka.
