Absolutely above and beyond our expectations in every way. Our room, the Oriole Suite, was spectacular. Beautifully appointed, comfortable bed, the shower and tub were spa worthy, nice extra “touches” like chocolates on the pillow, bathrobes and a hot tub, too. The restaurant provided impeccable service and the food was delicious. Each course was better than the one before. The staff, at every level, was gracious, friendly and attentive. We cannot say enough good things about this place! Worth every penny!
My husband I thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay on an otherwise dreary November day. The resort is stately and refined, resplendent with old world charm. The staff are courteous, attentive and impeccably professional. We were warmed by the blazing fire in the Tap Room as we enjoyed an afternoon cocktail. Everything during our stay was absolutely perfect but the highlight was dinner at Le Hatley. They say that chefs are artists who prepare food and Chef Alexandre Vachon certainly embodies that definition. Our dinner was nothing short of amazing. It was imaginative, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The sommelier was charming and knowledgeable and the waitstaff equally so. My husband called it "Nirvana". Thank you Hovey Manor for an all around wonderful experience - we'll be back but next time we're staying longer! …
We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night in a luxury room on the top floor. The room, bedding and amenities are all top notch. The weather was outstanding for early November so we enjoyed our lakefront balcony all weekend. We dined in the Taproom for all our meals except breakfast which is served in the main dining room. All our meals were fantastic along with the exceptional service by everyone we encountered.. All this made for a very memorable weekend. Hope to return someday soon!
I loved everything about my visit to Manoir Hovey except that it was too short-only two nights. All of the food was good but the breakfasts were outstanding! I'd planned to use the Manoir's map to visit sights mentioned in Louise Penny's Chief Inspector Gamache series, but my lovely room with a large deck facing the lake was too perfect to leave, so I enjoyed a relaxing two days of reading and eating. Can't wait to return!
Manoir Hovey is a very special escape in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. Every detail is addressed while staying at this beautiful lakefront property. The service is perfect, via an attentive, friendly, qualified staff. The property, rooms, restaurants, amenities, and services are top-notch. Wonderful experience - I recommend it to everyone!
Overall look and feel: A+ Fine dining restaurant: A Superb food with uber professional service in a drably beige room. Casual restaurant: A A shining star. The Maitre d' could offer a master class in warmly welcoming guests to make them feel special. The menu could be better balanced. Room: B- A superior room was the best available when we reserved, which seemed ok when I was assured on the telephone it had a king bed, fireplace and balcony. Our actual room at 110 square feet (plus a 35 sf bath and balcony with lake view) should be sold as a "single". It was very nicely appointed, but only "manageable" at best for two people. The negative here is size, not quality. Public spaces: The only indoor public space is the library, which serves as the only lounge. Only once in 4 days, while waiting for dinner were we asked if we would like anything. Service outside of the dining rooms: This is Hovey's weak suit. I'll present my case by telling the story of an afternoon. I asked the front desk attendant for my car keys since we were going out for the day (construction necessitates giving your car keys to the desk). She retrieved them and wordlessly slid the over the counter. At any other Relais and Chateaux, the request would have been verbally acknowledged and the keys handed to you with best wishes for a pleasant drive on a beatiful fall day. We drove over to Ripplecove because we had seen it online. While it is not MH's direct competition, we went onto their dock and sat down to take in the lake scenery on a sunny day. Within 5 minutes a staffer came out to ask us if we would like anything to eat or drink. When we said no, she asked if we would like her to stop back or did we want privacy. THAT is what should be happening at Hovey, but is not. When we returned to MH, we sat outside the library in lawn chairs to enjoy the late afternoon sun and stayed almost two hours. A hot drink would have been welcome as the sun set, but we never saw a staff member and were never given the opportunity to request anything. I could go on with ten other examples, but think I have made my point. R&C properties are typically on top of these details. Manoir Hovey is the upmarket option in the area and staying here is not a mistake. Select your room carefully and do not expect a Relais and Chateaux experience when you go.…
My wife and I had a fabulous two-night stay this past weekend. The food was wonderful, inventive and memorable. And yet, the service was even better, and the bedrooms were also wonderful. This is one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed at, and I have traveled the world in five star hotels. We plan to return soon. We stayed in the Montcalm Suite, and I recommend it without reservation. It is comfortable and quiet (it is in a small separate building next to the main hotel), and offers both a large private deck with a fabulous view and a large screen porch. This is luxury/
If possible, the service is even better than the food! If you’re looking for an inexpensive night’s stay, this isn’t it, but everyone deserves to experience Manoir Hovey once in their lives! This was our second visit in 5 years and just as good as the first. When we arrived our car was parked for us and our luggage was put in our room while we registered. We were then driven by golf cart to our room in a cottage adjacent to the main inn. The room was gorgeous, wonderful view and a deck with comfy loungers. The bathroom was modern with lots of gadgets. The dinner was amazing. We had the 8 course tasting menu (actually 9) accompanied by a wonderful red the sommelier recommended. My favourite course was the duck egg mousse with caviar, a play on soft boiled egg and toast soldiers. Wow! Was that delicious! But so was everything! Now we aren’t rich by any means but it’s nice to feel like we are once in a while and the staff treated us like royalty! Can’t wait to go back in another 5 years!…
The Manoir Hovey is a gem nestled in an Idyllic setting on the edge of Lac Massawippi, Quebec. The property is well maintained with an outstanding courteous staff. the food is exceptional under the chef Francis Wolf at the helm. I look forward to opening of the wellness centre in the spring of 2022. This is a place to rejuvenate.
Loved our Treetop Suite. Especially the large deck, vista, and fireplace. My wife said her massage in the spa was the best she’s ever had. The food in both restaurants was over the top fantastic. The duck egg dinner appetizer was incredible.
