We stayed at the Raging Elk when we first came to Fernie for the ski season, and it was a great place to start. The staff are really welcoming, the hostel is only a very short walk from town, and the bar is great - free pool and $3.50 pints. The kitchen is huge and was a good place to...

My family and my sister's family stayed at the Raging Elk before Xmas to do some skiing. We had never stayed in a hostel before so were not sure what to expect. I like the concept of a hostel, but would not recommend this particular hostel. The hostel is run down and has seen its day. The kitchen is in...

Decent enough place for what you pay for. Close to downtown, shuttle to ski hill, parking, and a pancake breakfast. Staff is helpful and fun. Had one issue and Caitlin went out of her way to fix. Rooms were a little cramped, 4 bunk beds sleeping 8 with little space. Could use more space to hang ski clothes. Overall a...

The Raging Elk if a good place to stay if you're in town to ski on the cheap. Clean, warm, affordable, and $3.50 pints! Despite having a bar that's open fairly late, the private rooms are quiet and you can get a good night's rest before hitting the slopes. The only downside (which can be a big one if you're...

The Raging elk is a great place, full of great people in an even greater town! The staff were super friendly and the rooms were nice and warm. The place was made for snow bums, with a tune room in the back and free pancake breaky in the morning. Just a tip for the pancakes though, you gotta use milk...

First time staying in a hostel, so didn't really know what to expect. Cheap pints in bar! Was able to make pancakes and coffee in the morning in the kitchen. Had most of the necessary supplies. Stayed with friends, ended up having a bunk bed room which slept 3 with a private bathroom. Rooms are very small. Was def an...

I stayed at the Elk for 2 weeks in October whilst sorting a job/accommodation for the ski season and had a great time. I'm a 25 year old male and have stayed in a lot of hostels over the years and found this to be one of the most enjoyable. The price is reasonable per night and the bar upstairs...

Such a great experience! All the staff are awesome and so helpful. The rooms are so clean and the bathroom situation is one of the best I've seen in a hostel. Best part- cutest dog in the backyard! Definitely worth staying here for a week +

I would use this place again, not the best kitchen but great people and family room(4 person) available so good enough for me... Walking distance to lot fernie etc. all they need to do really is sort that kitchen out. Lovely mountains for easy family hikes, u can even walk from the lodge.

The Raging Elk was a life saver. After some very stressful, literally PTSD times, we needed to get away from the big city!! It was last minute...it was a long weekend...and everywhere I tried had no vacancy. I was feeling so upset, when a co-worker suggested Hostels International, and after no vacancies in Banff, Jasper, Kootenay Nat, there it was,...
