Unfriendly and experienced racism from the staff. Not recommended unless you are looking to get wasted and sleep all day. Loud , hard to find quietness. I think the staff makes their money out if tips and dont get paid very well or not good at all. So this one guy was complaining a lot about tips he was very...

If you are okay with a no fills kind of place, this is a great way to save some coin. Bring your own towels and soap Commercial kitchen for use by guests Open mic nights are a ton of fun. We stayed in a family room which had 3 bunk beds (6 ppl total)

We stayed one night in a private room. The beds were alright. I didn't hear noice from the bar below at all. Curtains made the room pretty dark which is great. The room was very very warm (27 and couldn't turn it down) we slept with the windows open and since the hallway is cold it made for a nice...

This Hostel is a dump. The hostelling association should remove them from their directory. The rooms were dreary. Cement walls in rooms and top bunk was so high that it was difficult to climb up there. Beds were uncomfortable. Bar was noisy. Kitchen was adequate but less time spent there the better. In short, this hostel is OLD and could...

So I stayed 6 nights with friends in the raging elk. On the downside the beds were a bit creaky and the matrices were plastic. We stayed in a family room on the first floor and to say the least it was hot. On the plus side there is a good bar downstairs with cheap beer, the communal areas are...

Stayed here for one night to go snowboarding in Fernie. The hostel is located a 10 min drive from the ski resort and right across the street from a restaurant called The Curry Bowl which is nice and convenient. The room was average. We booked the family room which wasn't as described, but still okay. (Description: "A family room has...

A note in the hallway our room was in read, 'please tip toe after 11pm as people are sleeping'. Meanwhile you can hear loud music and people cheering from the bar 1 floor directly below us until 1230am. Not fun when you're tired from skiing for 7 hours earlier that day and going to do it again tomorrow. The beds...

This is the worst hostel any of us have ever stayed in. The beds are SO old and cheap you can feel every. single. spring. They also collapse in the middle and make so much noise you can't even roll over for fear of waking everyone up. There's no heat on in the hallways so it's literally freezing inside in...

So Raging Elk is a backpacker place, but they have a big range of rooms ranging from dorms to rooms with private baths. It's probably one of the cheapest places in town, but being Canada that still means you'll spend a fair bit. It's not fancy, but they keep it clean. They have some great 'extras' though. There is a...

This place is located just behind the Powder Mountain Lodge. We stopped in for a pre-dinner bevvy. Local crowd, hunters lodge decor, local beer. Service and bevvies were good. Note this is a CASH ONLY establishment.
