Having only just found the chain of B&B hotels have found them to all be extremely good value for money. Le Tholonet is clean tidy, with tv and wifi. It was in a good location walking distance to local shops and a few restaurants to choose from. The self checking is such a good idea and very easy to use. Again good view of hills from bedroom window.
Check only from 17.00 till 21.00 and an early morning. It must be a little bit inconvenient. But! Rooms were clean, good wifi connection, good administrator. Breakfast includes: croissants, coffee, tea, eggs, bacon, yogurt, juice and etc. For France it was untypical :). Recommend this hotel.
Aix-en-Provence seems to be a convenient night stop whenever I'm traveling on long trips. Downside: Rooms are small, no 24 hour desk and the only food is (expensive) snacks from a machine. Upside: But A/C/heat works good, internet is great, parking is secure and at €49/night about half the price of Ibis. I've probably stayed there 10 times and usually don't make a reservation. Just show up and get a room, but last week when I arrived around 2230 all rooms were full. Fortunately I found another B&B a few km away and got a room €3 cheaper. This second hotel was older but clean, great internet, soft bed and everything worked. When I travel alone all I want is a soft bed, good internet, maybe a Coke, a shower in the morning and I'm on my way before 0600. This hotel chain always fits my requirements and never disappoints.…
If all you want is a clean bed and bath at minimum cost, the B&B hotels give you that. This hotel is a bit remote from the centre of Aix. Breakfast is basic, but ok. No human was present to greet us. We had to get a code to unlock the hotel and room doors, by talking to someone in Paris on the intercom.
Great for an overnight stay as the beds are great, the shower is great (even the liquid soap smells good), and the place is very clean. The rooms are small and there is not even a spot to open a normal size suitcase. The people working there are so nice and do whatever they can to help.
Excellent on the way to spain or anyother destination requiring a short stop in france... Very close to the nice city of aix en provence. If you book in advance they also have large rooms for families... Very very cheap. Clean and good breakfast in the morning, also with hot continental food.
