Just returned from The Highwayman, which is in transition to a Quality Inn. Don’t believe the older reviews. The Quality Inn is taking over and making many improvements. Check-in was fast, very friendly, super helpful and they had everything I requested. A king size bed with a balcony. The Room was clean, the sheets white, the king size bed comfortable and the pillows very puffy. Our bathroom was spotless with plenty of towels, a walk-in shower and brand new vanity. There was also a hairdryer. We had a small coffeemaker, a fridge, microwave, iron and ironing board. Flatscreen tv (we did have to unplug that to turn it off, for some reason it’d go back on after 4 seconds.... only complaint). The room “smelled clean “ very pleasant and the heating unit was one of the quietest I’ve had. The Amenities, we made use of the pool which was warm. The hot tub which was hot, the sauna, I didn’t know they had but inside the ladies change room, I assume there’s one in the men’s. The fitness room was under construction, but it’ll be ready soon I bet.The fellow looking after the area was constantly cleaning, moping, making sure it was spotless and you could tell that it was. There was lots of seating areas if you just wanted to hang out. The Restaurant “Twozero1” we had a voucher for the complimentary continental breakfast, pleasant surprise, I didn’t know that was included. There was plenty of food Bobbi Joe was making sure of that! We decided to go back later that night as the bar had large flatscreen TVs to watch the hockey game rather than drive some where. We made use of the pool table, which seemed brand new and only $1.25 to play. We just had appetizers but the food was good and there were a lot of families eating and the food all looked good! Bobbi Joe was still there hanging out but working too, she said as the manager she wanted to make sure everything was going smoothly, she even made sure I was served just as she got her coat on ready to leave!!! This place is a kids paradise!!! They have two 5 pin bowling lanes, an arcade, air hockey, and bumper cars!!! The kids were having a blast and the best part, the parents could sit have drinks and watch them all at the same time. The Sunday breakfast was really well done, again complimentary, bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, bread to toast, muffins, coffee and tea. Bobbi Joe was there AGAIN making things run smoothly!! All the staff were SOOO nice from the front desk, the housekeeping, the wait staff. Everyone said hello, very pleasant. I’d go back to The Quality Inn and Conference Center any time. We booked in August and the place was completely sold out for the weekend we stayed (Nov 2-4) but it didn’t feel crowded, it’s a very large place. Also there’s plenty to do in the surrounding area, lots of restaurants, shopping. We stayed for a show at Casinorama the front desk arranged a flat rate of $25 for the cab ride there. Couldn’t have worked out better!! Thanks everyone!!!
Booked and prepaid this accommodation on a third party site. Booked as the "Quality Inn and Conference Centre". Front desk was efficient, helpful and friendly. Hotel has recently been renovated. Our large room was very clean and included a comfortable queen size bed, TV, fridge and microwave. Free breakfast was not included however 2 - $5.00 vouchers were provided for the adjacent restaurant. This hotel has a very nice, clean indoor swimming pool. There are 2 bowling lanes (and other games) in the adjacent restaurant. Free Wi-Fi reception in the room was somewhat slow. Good value relative to other properties available in Orillia. I would stay here again. Very impressed by the interior cleanliness of this property.
Thanks again to Kelly and the staff at The Highwayman Inn. This was the 20th year of our stay and play golf package at The Highwayman Inn and they have always treated us well. The renovations look great, starting with the rooms, new beds and flooring are just what the place needed. And the bar/restaurant/arcade is awesome, breakfast was good every day and also had supper once and it was good (bar food) other than a couple minor screw-ups but the staff corrected the issues. Restaurant only open a couple of weeks and new staff so be patient.
room was on the bottom floor. pet friendly and not people friendly. room was filthy. big stain on the ceiling and bugs in the light shade. when u make reservation they do not tell you that pets are allowed therefore if you have allergies to either dog or cats hair you are better be prepared with your epic needle. james the night clerk is rude and arrogant. he should not be working in the hospitality profession. if you are afraid of dogs you are in for a rude of awakening. you complain to the manager and nothing gets done. let,s not forget this is a place that the rooms are anywhere from 180.00 and up.
We called the hotel directly to book our stay, as we wanted to make sure there would be no issues. I called and asked how much a jacuzzi room would be, for August 31-September 2. I was told $179.99/night plus tax, the room would have a king bed, and they would charge my credit card $400 at the beginning of the stay, as a precaution. We arrive at the hotel and i am given paperwork to sign, and they are asking $220/night plus tax. I talk with the lady at reception and she will only bring it down to $201/night plus tax, even though i was told $179.99. Next we get to our room and we have a queen bed not a king. There was no screen on our window so we could not open it as we were on the ground floor and didn't want bugs to come in, or have someone be able to steal our belonigings, the vent in the bathroom also didn't work. Then the next day i find out they charged my credit card $500, which i was not prepared for and put me in overdraft (would have been fine if they told me it would be this amount). Everything i was told when i called to make the reservation was false. I complained to the front desk about all these issues, and all they would do is charge me $200 for the first night and $170 for the second night... this is still more than i was told i would be paying when i made the reservation, and there was no accommodation for them giving us a room with a queen bed instead of a king bed. Lastly there was a blood stain on the comforter in the bedroom we were staying in, and the pool/hot tub had so much chlorine in them, that our eyes/lungs burned and the colour started coming out of my bathing suit (like as it i had bleached it). The pool also has piles of dirt at the bottom of the deep end and clumps of hair in the pool. It is clearly not maintained. When we checked in the lady made sure to tell me that I was not allowed to "party or sing" past 10pm yet there was a yappy dog a few rooms away from us. I was not happy with my stay, and am frustrated that i paid more than i was told, AND didn't even get the proper room.
