Just back from a wonderful 3 night stay at L'Ancestrale. The hospitality is absolutely outstanding! Lynn's breakfasts are both delicious and interesting in their variety. I've read all of the 2022 reviews that I found - they are amazingly complementary, and I want to say they are not exaggerated, but 'right on'. We enjoy being able to walk to a variety of good restaurants for dinner and appreciated Eric's counsel on ones to try. You'll enjoy your stay here!

Close to the Memphrémagog lake and restaurants, the B&B is located in a quiet environnement. Lyn and Éric, our charming hosts, offered us a cosy and confortable room, la Rêveuse. In the morning, we could not resist the succulent and generous breakfast. We will be backdoor.

Very charming B&B on a quiet street but walking distance to everything. The room was very cozy and clean. The breakfasts were amazing and healthy. I do not eat eggs or meat but Lyne accommodated me by adapting every breakfast. This was our first B&B experience but won’t be our last! Thank you Lyne, Eric and the boys!

My wife and I spent two weeks vacationing in Quebec and Ontario Provinces. Our stay at A L'Ancestrale was the highlight of our trip. The home itself is cozy, inviting, and immaculately clean. However, what separates A L'Ancestrale from other Bed & Breakfasts, and what causes it to stand out and shine, is the owners: Lynn and Eric. From the minute we arrived, we felt as though we were staying with old friends. Lynn and Eric were always engaged, available and interested, without being intrusive. Their restaurant suggestions were spot-on, as were their suggestions for outdoor activities (kayaking, walking trails, etc.). I could go on and on with praise. However, the bottom-line is that we had an absolutely wonderful time. Many thanks to Eric, Lynn and their two amazing children for hosting us so graciously in their home.

When you visited, we were blessed with a uniquely rich combination of guests and favorable conditions. From people who had renovated historic homes, travelled to war zones as photographers or were sharing their passion for next generation imaging... When such magic happens, when people such as yourselves come with oversized curiosity and generosity, our work indeed becomes more akin with a hobby or hosting a get-together of friends. Thanks for contributing to such great memories, we enjoyed every minute in your company. Thanks for taking the time to write and share pictures as well.

My husband and I had a fabulous experience at A L'Ancestrale B&B. Eric and Lynn (and their two gorgeous children), were amazing hosts. Our room was cozy, comfortable and impeccably clean. The breakfast each morning, was perfect. Eric even took us kayaking on two separate days. But most importantly, the hospitality was so incredibly genuine and warm. We felt like we were visiting long-time friends. If we could give this place more than 5 stars, we would!

Spending time with your husband and yourself was a true privilege for our children, my wife and I. Thanks for sharing some of your outstanding life stories with us. They inspired conversations for several days after your visit in many regards, from career conversion, women in leadership, technology adoption all the way to relocation. We are still enjoying your generous gifts and thinking about you each time we do. Best of luck on your upcoming far away assignment and thanks for taking the time to share your impressions of your stay. You are very special people and it was felt by everyone in the house, not just our family.

I’m not sure I have ever met more friendly and accommodating hosts the Lynn , Eric and their two boys. Our initial welcome was warm and sincere and there was never anything that was too much for them. They were all intent on ensuring our stay was memorable and enjoyable. Breakfast was superb as was the hospitality upon our return in the evening after a day out, with tea/coffee and treats brought to the room for us. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and individually decorated, with high speed Internet available everywhere. For those looking to relax, enjoy the hot tub in the garden. The property is within easy walking distance of many restaurants and an excellent Metro super market should you choose to cater for yourself. A small area of the fridge will be available to store perishables and beer. If you’re in Magog you’ll be hard pressed to beat this experience.

Hosts (the whole family) were very welcoming. They made us feel at home from the minute you drove in the driveway. They prepared a delicious homemade breakfast that accommodated all dietary needs. This charming historic home is a true gem and I would definitely stay again.

We stayed for three nights in this delightful Bed and Breakfast. It is an historic home which is tastefully decorated with many antiques. It is spotlessly clean and close to downtown Magog. The hosts, Elyse and Rene, were very helpful, kind and friendly. They suggested activities for us each day and provided discount coupons (as part of the partnership with local restaurants and companies). We stayed in the Inseparable Room which was very large and comfortable. The bedding is high quality including high count cotton sheets, down duvet and down pillows. The room was very quiet. The living room is welcoming and comfortable with satellite TV available, It the B and B was excellent, the breakfasts were outstanding. We were served a three course breakfast each morning - prepared with great care and artistically presented. Each breakfast was different - first came a smoothie, followed by yogurt / fruit, chia 'pudding (yummy), and yogurt granola. The 'main course' included savoury waffles with Bearnaise sauce, crepe with apple filling and warmed maple syrup, and finally a souffle with home made toast and fried potatoes. Everything is homemade or locally sourced. We have eaten in many fine restaurants and hotels - we have never had as good breakfasts as were prepared by Elyse and Rene. The dining room is again furnished with high quality antiquest and the tables are set with fine china and crystal. Overall, this was an excellent experience and we were sorry to leave. We would highly recommend this bed and breakfast. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We were warmly welcomed by Rene even though we reached late almost 8:30pm on a friday. After a quick checkin, Rene recommended a place for dinner and also gave us the discount coupon. Both Rene and Elysa are wonderful hosts, Breakfast is served in style in their sunlit dining room with a few small tables and one larger table on beautiful china. Breafast started with a smooothie server in a silver glass, followed by a fruit compote and then a hot/warm breakfast - we stayed 2 nights and each morning the varierty was different with egg souffle, fruits and homemade multi-grain bread on 1 day and crepe with apple stuffing and fruit on second day. Our room was on the 2nd level, beautiful victorian furnishings but not too stuffy. We had a small balcony with 2 charis which we did use. All in all, a wonderful stay and definitely a place we would go to again if we are in Magog

We spent 3 nights at L'Ancestrale B & B in Magog. We can't say enough about the hospitality. We had a large ground floor room, which worked out well with it's private entrance, etc. Magog is a small city and the B & B is well located. The hosts could not have been more accommodating and went out of their way to help us and make us feel welcome, providing very helpful information. Breakfasts were beautiful and the residence was immaculate. They were full when we were there and everyone seemed very happy. One thing about the building, which is a beautiful structure, is that this does pose problems for those, such as myself, with mobility issues. The private entrance to the ground floor room is difficult as it has a stone step. However, you can also use the front entrance. Stairs to the four rooms on the second floor seemed steep. They provided discount coupons for local restaurants and attractions, which we used, and they seem very much involved in the region. I would recommend L'Ancestrale to anyone heading in that direction.
