We stayed at Draaihoek for two nights. Located just behind the dunes from the sea with no TV and very little cell phone reception - this is a place where one can truly unwind. Free wifi on offer. Springbok roam around the grounds. Room was very neat. Tap water not palatable. The restaurant's food was surprisingly tasty - everything had...

We had a wonderful stay . The lodge seems to be in the middle of nowhere, but is a peaceful oasis. with a walkway over to a private beach. The cottages are clean and comfortable with fire places and large doors that open to enable you to enjoy the view of the dunes. The staff and friendly and helpful and the...

We had three relaxing days at Draaihoek. Great place, lovely staff, good food and lovely rooms. The mini nature reserve it is within can reward you with a peaceful walk connecting with the nature of the area. We had three days here and loved it, didn't need to leave. The bonus was the heated pool that is so warm in...

Wonderful place to restore the soul. Special memories of infinity sand and seascapes. Food is excellent and the staff very helpful. This hidden gem is worth the drive and the cottage is spacious and cleaned daily.

I am feeling slightly conflicted to write this review... seeing that I want to keep Draaihoek Lodge and Restaurant a secret to ourselves. :-) This is how exactly we experienced the Lodge... a well-kept, wonderful getaway secret, geared to treat and comfort your body, soul and mind. What an absolutely AMAZING getaway weekend this turned out to be for us!...

Stopped along coast with daughter while on a 2 week escape from winter in northern Ohio. Outstanding meals, wide open spaces, and a great run along a deserted stretch of beautiful Atlantic beach early in the morning. Roaring surf, fresh air and a curious seal during our run were highlights of the morning ! We hope to return in the...

We loved the location, the pool and the proximity to the beach is fantastic. The rooms were very clean and tidy and generous in space. Staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and substantial. The only complaint would be the sound of the train which comes through in the early hours of the morning which we didn't expect...

My husband and I decided on the spur of the moment to have a few days away. Draaihoek Lodge looked like a quiet place to walk and just relax. We were not prepared for the high quality of food and accommodation that we found. We were welcomed by the owner Marieke and shown to our cottage. The room was spacious,...

The lodge and restaurant are situated on a very quit place. Walking to the beach gives you a view of an almost empty beach foor kilometers on both sides. Just sea, birds and a lost seal, great! In the garden you will find a swimming pool, where you can lay down in chairs and grass. The restaurant is simple but of...

We stayed her before and after our West Coast Crayfish trail hike. We were simply astonished with the gourmet meals, luxury accommodation and friendly helpful staff. All situated right next to the beach! Looking forward to the next time!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Draaihoek Lodge is situated on the West Coast of South Africa with a unspoiled 5 km white sandy private beach. Draaihoek Lodge offers accommodation in 8 luxury suites, each fronting the scenic strand veld and dunes of the Atlantic Ocean. Furthermore we have the Manor House with its 3 luxuriously appointed bedrooms overlooking the vlei with its unique flora and bird life available. Whether you dine in The Restaurant, on the terrace or picnic overlooking the waves of the West Coast, you will savor the flavors of our mouth-watering classics and gourmet dishes prepared by the kitchen team. Fare from the kitchen will guide you through the flavors redolent of South Africa's cooking tradition and the West Coast surrounds - borrowing from the Cosmopolitan table to create a heart warming taste experience that endeavors to touch patrons' souls. All meals are served with quality wines selected from our cellar. Je seux qu'on se voix - come and join us. The private Nature Reserve reaches from the Atlantic ocean inland to Sandveld's mountain range and across to the Verlorenvlei, a RAMSAR classified site, south of Elands Bay. The coastal border of the Reserve stretches along an undisturbed sandy beach, hugged by rugged dunes and favoured by flocks of birds typical to the West Coast. The uninhabited bay area is frequented by whales, seals and playing Heaviside dolphins. ... more   less
