Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hostel exceeded our expectations and as a large group of 30 hailing from Gonzaga for a ski trip, we couldn't have asked for a better location or attention to detail Cindy and her staff were able to offer! The kitchen and each rooms were well equipped and we were a big fan of the shoeless hostel as it keeps it cleaner! We loved this place and can't wait to come back next year!

Stayed here a few nights while I was searching for a place. Clean and quiet spot. I am a student and I never had issues with loud noise. Staff were great to deal with and very welcoming. I highly recommend.

Very clean ! So cozy! Excellent location! Beautiful local art hung everywhere . Knowledgeable & friendly front desk staff. Plenty of showers and half baths to accomodate the entire hostel . Would for sure stay again! Best value for a short stay in Nelson . I stayed just for one night due to travel plans however this Hostel Would be ideal for a concert night or for a night when you had too many wobbly pops to drive home !

The staff are amazing, friendly and helpful (honestly, they smile and are cheery all the time. As a professional grumpy old guy, they make it hard on me to be that), the rooms are bright, warm and clean. Very peaceful and very relaxing. Great place and I go every week. No reason to stay anywhere else in Nelson. Centrally located so you can go out and walk the area as well. So many nice restaurants nearby and always a great place to meet people from all over.

I had a very nice stay at the Dancing Bear, my room was cozy and quiet, overlooking a side garden. The hostel is very clean and well maintained. All of the staff were super helpful for a first time hosteller. The other travellers were friendly and made it feel more like community than just a stopping place. And Nelson is a beautiful little city in the mountains.

A fantastic place to stay!! Helpful and kind staff, cozy rooms, and super handy location. The room and bathroom had everything we could need and the kitchen was clean and spacious. The beds were soft and the fan in the room really helped during the warm nights.

The Dancing Bear has been my home away from home since 2017. It's central in downtown Nelson and affordable. The decor is stylish and simple, with light wood features. It's kept clean and is like a European pension. The staff are consistently friendly and welcoming. There's something about the vibe that encourages lively interaction amongst the guests. All in all its a great place.

I spent a week at the Dancing Bear and loved it. It was quiet during quiet hours and just social enough the rest of the time. Central to shopping, food, and entertainment. The staff are absolutely lovely and it is clean and comfortable.
