I have stayed at this motel a few times and this time was unfortunately the last. When flicking a light on during the night to use the facilities there was a cockroach on the table near the fridge. It skittered away, as did I the next morning. Uggggh, I used to like it here and thought it was clean. Nope.
We booked by phone and were given a rate for this location. Upon arrival we were told our room was at a different motel, The Collingwood Motel. Owner owns both locations. It was disgusting, holes in the ceiling, open wires in the wall, mattress on 2nd bed wasn't a mattress, it was 2 ft short of a real mattress, not sure what it was. We returned to the office and owner was hostile, extremely rude and refused to give us our money back saying we used the room. He yelled at my 11 year old son and told us to get out. Then he called the cops on us!!! We couldn't believe it. Our little family is pretty chill and doesn't need anything fancy and we haven't had a weekend off together since March. We were just looking for a weekend away with our son. Do not stay here. Do not stay at the Collingwood Motel either unless you are looking to get ripped off.…
We stayed one night in room 8 on Feb 15. The Good: the bathroom was remodeled. The Bad: The day after we’d stayed there my daughter woke up with 147 (yes- she counted them!) bed bug bites on her arms, legs, torso, lower back, neck, and face. She was in the bed closest to the bathroom. My wife was in the other bed and had 6 bites. Our stay in room 8 is the only possible cause – we drove straight from home to the motel, skied the next day, and then drove straight back home. We haven’t traveled anywhere else and don’t have bed bugs at our house. I spoke with the manager, Nick. He said they could test the mattress, but if it came back negative they would charge me $300 for testing. I declined that! Basically we agreed that he doesn’t trust me as telling the truth, and I don’t trust him to test properly or provide the right mattress if I hired my own tester (it isn’t in Nick’s best interest to have a positive test come back!). I suggested they should take the very basic step of thoroughly inspecting the room! He then agreed to do that and said he’d have the carpets cleaned and mattress cleaned as well. Hopefully he’ll follow-through and that will take care of it. There was no offer to reimburse me if he did find bed bugs.…
We stayed here for 1 night following a show in the town of Collingwood. We checked in before hand and it was super easy. This is not a fancy motel, but i was nervous having read previous reviews, but we were very pleased. Our room was clean, and aired out. There was 2 double beds, a small microwave and mini fridge/freezer; no coffee maker or kettle. If you bring instant, bring a mug. The room is painted white so it is fairly bright for the size, big newer windows, door could be replaced. The bed was comfy and we slept well. The hotel in a little bit out of town so you will need to drive wherever you need to go. I would recommend for a night or two. Not fancy but a good little motel.
We stayed here while in town for a wedding and were able to get the hotel the DAY OFF which was great and it was affordable! The staff was very polite and let us check in early and check out late for no extra cost. Our room was clean and air con worked great. Very vintage style motel but working microwave and fridge, plus bbq on property, hot water and bathroom was renovated nicely. It was perfect for the amount of time we actually spent in there.
