We spent the family day weekend at the Briars and were very satisfied. We were two couples in a lakeside cottage, and although there were some issues with the power the staff did everything possible to mitigate the situation. The dining room was excellent, and the grounds well done for a winter weekend. We were happy to see a great...

We didn't really know what to expect. We had checked this resort out in 2011 for our wedding, but decided immediately that it was too rustic for a wedding. So, a couple of years later when we wanted to go somewhere within a relatively short distance for a one-night getaway, we decided to try it out. If you don't want...

Dear Jessica, We are sorry for your disappointment in our accommodation in our cottage area during your recent stay. As noted the lodges are rustic, I think that you and your family would find a room in the Inn more to your liking, with it's proximity to the dining, spa and indoor recreation area. I'd hope you like to give...

Charming property run by an incredible family who took time out of their lives to introduce us into theirs. The Georgian era construction of the main house is quaint with a beautiful library and a comfortable sitting area. The building itself was built in multiple phases so there are these brilliant little connections everywhere. We stayed in a room called the...

We recently visited The Briars for an overnight stay to celebrate my wife's birthday. We took advantage of a Travelzoo offer which proved to be excellent value for money. The Briars is an historic property with some later additions and provides excellent accommodations and facilities. We were luckily upgraded to a room in the original manor house as we were...

The Briars is an established resort on Lake Simcoe in Southern Ontario, about an hour or so north of Toronto. In several stays there, I have found the accommodations, food and service to be excellent, and good value for the money. The setting is tranquil and restorative. It is a family-oriented place, but couples and singles will likely be happy...

My husband and I just return from a mini vacation at the Briars and enjoyed ourselves so much I had to write this review. Our room overlooked the back of the resort but no less a beautiful view. It was quiet and very relaxed which was what we were looking for. We had great meals and wonderful service which to...

I stayed here as recently as a couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed. Do not believe what you see in the pictures. This is not a resort in any true sense. The furnishings are old and tired. Our room was filthy and the bedding was below average. I have had nicer pillows on VIA trains than in this...

The Briar's has been a family tradition for 25 years. My parents have celebrated their anniversary there every Easter and my wife and I have taken our family three to join them a few times. As my 10 year old son has grown up, he continues to refer to it as his favourite place to go, bar none. The Sibbalds...

We were tipped off to this great hotel by the staff of a nearby Home Hardware, and were we ever glad. Not only was it beautiful, it was inexpensive, an unusual combination. The building is extensive, the grounds are lovely, the view is great, the staff are impeccable. We are not golfers or conventioneers, but it didn't seem to matter....
