Stayed here in a large group and there were no major problems. The rooms were large and clean. The only issue was with the top bunks being difficult to get in to, and the beds being slightly uncomfortable. The staff were generally helpful, although the service at times was slow and slightly disinterested. The price was affordable and reasonable. Seemed... More

Every inch of this place feels like it's been half-assed. Laundry machines broken, bedlamps burnt out, faucets that only trickle. This would normally be only a subpar hostel, but the juxtaposition between the Alpine Clubhouse Hostel and the Hostel Bear make this place feel like an exceptionally awful place. Furthermore, the ACC Hostel is cheaper if you are already a... More

I was staying in Canmore for a course and decided to go the hostel route to add a social aspect to this visit. Social is definitely not what i got. All social areas and seating is closed behind locked gates between 22h00 and 07h30 making you feel like an untrusted and unwelcome intruder. The room was dirty, there was no... More

This hostel was good for a few nights. You are able to drop off your pack any time until check-in. I stayed in the Female dorm and had excellent room mates but the train does pass right behind the hostel...all part of the experience. All room mates were respectful of each other and quite. The common area upstairs has a... More

I stayed at Hostel Bear for three nights in a private room with my mom at the end of August. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hostel and it was perfect for what I was looking for! It is one of the most affordable places where you can stay in the Banff area and is conveniently located only 20... More

the room was small which was okay but what was under the bed was the stuff of nightmares. It appeared to be months of neglect. Dust and hairs, eww. Nothing had been dusted in ages. We booked for 7 nights and got out after one night.

Here is a place that the ads you see show the facility new. It's not like the pictures. It's run down and filthy. There were no rooms in Banff or Canmore to be had and this facility was the only thing to be found - oh my god what a dump. I have been in some shady places but this... More

If you are looking for somewhere basic and inexpensive to stay, check this place out. The staff were friendly, the free Wifi was awesome, our dorm beds were great and comfortable. We didn't spend a lot of time there but it was fun. My daughter and I stayed here, we roomed with 4 other ladies and it was good but... More

I stayed here with a friend for one night in a female dorm room. You can't beat the price, and it's not a bad stay. The staff were friendly but seemed new at their job. The rooms seemed clean enough. It is very minimal accommodations. There is no soap in the bathrooms for washing hands. The sheets smelled a bit... More

Received confirmation email about booking two beds the day before arrival. We Arrived late on the first night and were not able to check in (12:30am) but tried calling the emergency numbers listed.. Which just ended up ringing the phone at the front desk that was closed off with no staff in sight. Came back the next day around 6pm... More
