About

Travellers' Choice
Acorn Glade is located between York & Beverley, on the fringes of the beautiful Vale of York and the Yorkshire Wolds. It is positioned within a beautiful lake-side setting offering yurts, log cabins and fishing. At our glamping site, there are no pets (no dogs) or children and it's even a wi-fi free zone. So bring a good book, a pack of cards or a board game, an open mind and a sense of adventure. Our award-winning Yorkshire glamping site is a grown-ups only romantic retreat and is only 10 miles east from the city of York. The self-catering accommodation includes two log cabins and a yurt with a private fishery. Acorn Glade is a designated Local Wildlife Site (LWS) and is set in three acres of wild flower meadow and woodland with a private still-water fishing lake, which can be used exclusively by guests. We are very proud to have been awarded the coveted Travellers Choice 2021 which ranks us in the top 10% worldwide.

We have been looking forward to staying at Acorn Glade and it fully lived up to our expectations. Myself & my husband stayed in Rose Hollow and it was the most amazing relaxing weekend we have had in a long time. (The bed was the comfiest I have ever slept in.) Everywhere was spotless and the communal kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed walking around the lake and sitting watching the Alpacas roaming around. Wendy & Andrew were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble. We appreciated the recommendations of places visit & eat. Our first time clamping and we will be back.

We have just returned from a weeks trip to acorn glade. From the moment we arrived Wendy & Andrew couldn’t do enough for us. The ultimate hosts! The place itself is SPOTLESS. Every base covered, from fish food, to logs for the wood burner. this place is 100% without doubt the most peaceful place we’ve ever visited. It’s the perfect location, close to York which was a lovely day out and so many other local hidden gems. Lovely touch being able to use the paddle boat whenever we wanted, we took full advantage! The attention to detail here is second to none. So many quirks. The communal kitchen & bathrooms and kept so clean and tidy. I’d recommend acorn glade to anyone & everyone who are looking for a quiet and relaxed break. It took us about an hour of being there to talk about when we can return (which we are hoping in the spring!!) Once again a massive thank you to Wendy and Andrew for being such amazing hosts and we will be back in 2022!

I wouldn't even consider this glamping! Everything is beautiful clean and so well thought out! Absolutely spotless in every aspect. The hosting is second to none, always friendly and welcoming. Jump in one of the hammocks and watch the alpacas wonder around...you won't regret it.

So very pleased to have discovered Acorn Glad this July just gone - a place of stillness, calm and no little beauty. The yurt we stayed in was tremendously appointed, cosy and warm (with or without recourse to the log burner), with many welcoming, homely touches. It felt literally safe as houses even in the face of a quite tremendous assault from the thunder, lightning and torrential rain one evening. The site, lake and environs play host to a delightful array of flowers, wild plants, insects and other animals - and that's even before the quartet of alpacas (free roaming) and families of wallabies (not so) are taken into consideration. Powerful, eco-friendly showers, a communal barbecue and kitchen and a cosy hammock for anyone in need of a little swing were just a few of the many facilities (all spotlessly maintained with Covid precautions in mind) of which we were happy to avail ourselves. Wendy and Andrew are generous, storied, genial hosts, for whom nothing was any trouble to supply or provide information on, and we could have talked with Wendy about her many world travels for days. An absolutely splendid long weekend, all in all, and a return visit in the future is assured. Many thanks! Jeremy and Linda xx

Acorn Glade is just fabulous. We stayed in Bluebell cabin it has a very comfortable bed and is so delightfully furnished to suite the cabin. We had an afternoon rowing around the lake we walked on the paths around the lake which has hidden gems like the wooden swing compete with its own LED fairy lights .The fire pit is lovely the owners place firewood around the path so you can collect it for the fire.We sat in the evening and got a great view of the stars with fire burning all we heard was owls and the odd bird ,utter peace and quiet.Wendy and Andrew are lovely hosts always around if you need them but leave you to enjoy your stay .Would definitely recommend Acorn Glade will definitely be booking again ,Absolutely love our stay .
