Just what a country hotel should be. Large rooms. Lots of nooks as communal areas to sit in front of the fire. Good food, nothing too much trouble and above all great service. Young cheerful staff who know what they are doing and do it well. They could even cope with my weird sense of humour.

The Biggin Hall Country House Hotel is located in the countryside in a quiet location, ideal for walking holidays but not too far from other attractions like Chatsworth. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights, visiting from the USA. We stayed in several hotels during our 3 week stay but enjoyed Biggin Hall the most. We loved the peaceful and beautiful location surrounded by fields and the pretty gardens of the hotel. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is charming and full of atmosphere. We liked our room which had plenty of space and a comfortable seating area. The fridge included some complimentary beer and Prosecco. The restaurant was very attractive and we had some nice meals there including a very good breakfast- full English and continental with lots of choices, I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent value for money, quality food and lovely surroundings. Adam is definitely a very big asset to your team, both chatty and professional. We stayed at Rivendale lodges for the weekend and would highly recommend a visit to this place.

We booked a night at Biggin Hall as a stop over in a 2 day walk from Buxton to Ashbourne (Park in Swimming Pool carpark Ashbourne, Bus to Buxton then walk back! The carpark is at the end of the tunnel on the Tissington trail). We were impressed with the friendliness and welcoming feel, room was nice, bed comfortable, shower hot with good pressure, which was excellent (after 100's of days walking I am a connoisseur of dribbly showers that disappoint and baths that are ridiculously small or which take days to fill) I thought the complementary individual bottle of beer and little bottle of prosecco was a nice touch as was the complementary packed lunch we got for the following day. This was really helpful, since there were no shops on our proposed route to pick up supplies. I have no idea if these elements are always offered or were part of the dinner bed and breakfast package we booked. The food was fine at the price point, though I personally am not a fan of microwaved pots of vegetables. Root veg can cope if it is seasoned but the broccoli gave up its life in vain as it disintegrated on the end of my fork. Breakfast was good, and the happy friendly vibe permeated the restaurant for both meals. The team were clearly training some new staff the night we were in, but were able to demonstrate the culture they wanted. We will return.

Hi LJoHa Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, we really appreciate it! It's lovely to hear that you enjoyed so many aspects of your stay and I will ensure all of your kind words are passed on to the rest of the team. I'm pleased you were happy with the complimentary items, we provide these for each one of our guests as a way of making their stay as special as it can be (the welcome drink in particular always goes down a treat!) With regards to your dining experience, I'm pleased that our team looked after you so well during your time with us. I will, however, pass on your feedback about the vegetables to the kitchen team. Here at Biggin Hall we are always looking for ways in which we can improve our offering and so your feedback is very much appreciated. Thank you again for your review and we really hope to see you again soon. Kind regards Beth Reception Manager

Rooms were well-appointed and comfortable. Staff were friendly. Cooked Breakfast was great, and they offer a packed lunch to take with you if you are out walking for the day. The hotel has good wifi, but no mobile signal. The recently added 22kW EV charger was easy to use and needed after a long day touring round the dales.

Hi Richard We are really fortunate to be in such a beautiful and remote part of the Peak District, meaning we are a great base for touring the local countryside. We decided to add special touches such as the complimentary packed lunches to make our guests' stays as enjoyable as possible so it's great to hear that you made the most of this whilst out walking. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, I'm really pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope that you will visit Biggin Hall again soon. The staff are worthy of 5 stars, the hotel is in a good location and the evening meals were great, one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had. There's a big but though. Room 19, where we stayed is in the loft, there is v limited headroom, my wife who is 5 7 frequently banged her head. Also it's very very noisy there an extractor fan that is right by the room is generating 80 to 90 decibels pretty much all the time, that plus a fridge with sounded like a tractor when it started up, made this the noisiest hotel I have even stayed in, which is not what we where looking for in the Peak District. We tried to talk to the manager Andy but he never got back to us

Always exceeds expectations, re accommodation, service, staff, and restaurant. Recent extension to restaurant is very much in keeping with character of building. Altogether relaxing and delightful. My wife and I have been staying here since 2002, and it only gets better.

my friend and i stayed one night at very short notice and were very impressed by this wonderful hotel. the location is fantastic. we walked around Dove Dale on both days but can see there's lots of walking, cycling & site seeing in the immediate area. the hotel itself is beautiful with lovely gardens. the communal rooms and our bedroom (in the Lodge) were all very clean and beautifully furnished. the attention to detail is superb from a welcome drink & a bottle of fresh milk in the room to a complimentary packed lunch. we had dinner in the restaurant which was faultless, as was breakfast. however, we both agreed that what really makes this hotel extra special is the staff. everyone from the first phone call to check out was very professional, friendly and efficient; nothing was to much trouble. they give the place a lovely relaxing homely feel. very good value to. we will both be back soon i'm sure.
