A very well-managed and cared for island with good pathways, clear signage & maps, lovely beaches and views, good exhibition centre and information. Accommodation in the Superintendent's House had an extremely well-equipped kitchen - only thing missing was a pair of scissors!!! - lovely hot showers and everywhere/everything very clean. Wifi was excellent so youngsters managed to feel less cut...

There were 3 families sharing the house and it was perfect. The island staff were friendly and helpful and we will be back. The kitchen was well equipped. One thing that could be better were the bunk beds. They were quite squeaky during the night. But overall a great place. Thanks for such a great holiday.

The Superintendent's House is great value for money. Large welcoming house, spotless and well appointed in an outstanding island. We have kayaked here twice and the place is fantastic, custodians welcoming and helpful and something for everyone; history, nature, relaxation. Beds are squeaky and being a bunkroom setup you may be in with other people - if that doesn't suit...

Thanks Waitoa for your generous review following your stay in the Super's House. And good feedback on the beds; while it's a shared bunkroom scenario, we'll have a look if we can reduce the squeaking of the bunks. We're thrilled you enjoyed Rotoroa Island and hope to welcome you back soon. Best wishes from the Rotoroa Island team.

Our overnight stay at the Superintendents house was outstanding value. Our family of parents and 4 boys enjoyed a mid winter weekend getaway with glorious weather and the entire Island to ourselves. The friendly caretaker Janice was so helpful and took us kiwi spotting at night, takahe tracking with transmitters and penguin nest locating. The island has been transformed tastefully with...

An amazing and memorable weekend for a group of Auckland kayakers who together had paddled the Dardanelles and landed at Anzac Cove in 2014. We were so well looked after from making enquiries about staying, to our reception on the beach and allowing us to commemorate Anzac Day with a Dawn Service on the beach. The spotless facilities, helpful staff...
