From the day I checked in, I knew this place was special! This is down to the not only very professional but welcoming staff! Would recommend to anyone travelling the area, including those going to the city, wanting somewhere away from the buzz and busyness of Auckland's CBD... Only $12 for a return to Devonport, you can even see the...

Lovely food, portions not too big but nice size. Cooked to perfection. Service a bit slow, although one female waitress obviously was put out due to a question asked by one of our party, but all the others were lovely. Average prices. This hotel has a lovely old world feel and look to it, clean and well presented. We didn't...

Charming old hotel. Had a Flagstaff room (the cheapest) with a cheap deal through wotif.com which was nice with an olde worlde sort of charm - nothing flash but very pleasant. The bathroom was big modern and spacious. Only negative was no wardrobe so nowhere to hang clothes, and no robes. (I suspect there was a wardrobe but it was...

The hotel has been upgraded considerably since I stayed in 1993! It is a grand old lady now. The bar and lounge area is very pleasant with an open fire. Breakfast is supplied as part of the price and the choice was a great change from the usual continental buffet.

The food here is really good and the building is one of the most charming in Devonport. The hotels' proximity to the ferry is a big plus and its furnishings are pleasant. Although I've not stayed here as a guest, I have dined a number of times and found the service to oscillate between OK and poor. It's a shame...

This was a cosy, friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Good food, cold beer and catering staff. The building had lots of natural light and light background music to set the tone. I would defiantly recommend to visit Devonport - even if just for a drink of coffee or beer by the fire. After a long walk about Devonport this was the...

They had a special lunch of roast beef , vegetables, and Yorkshire pudding in honor of the Queen's birthday. I decided to try it with some wine and it was wonderful. Was in the tea room which was neatly decorated with old plates and furniture. Quite lovely way to have lunch.

The first building you notice when exiting the Devenport ferry terminal is this hotel - and there is no need to walk any further. We did the crossing around noon, took 10 steps into the Esplanade Hotel and discovered a darling little separate dining room just to the side of the entrance with windows to the outside. Not only was...

Close to lunch walked in off Queen's Parade for a coffee and a beer. Most stylish and impressive interior. Fire would be greatly appreciated in the cooler months. Ordered a beer and a coffee. Beer was a Moa South Pacific IPA served in a glass of origin-a lovely touch. Service efficient and capable. Really enjoyed the beer. My wife commented...

I won a night for 2 at the Esplanade in a raffle and used the price to give my son and his partner a honeymoon night. From the first contact the manager and the staff at the Esplanade were extremely helpful and went above and beyond what I would have expected making this night very special. Would highly recommend the...
