Delightful, original, British Colonial styled hotel. Big bright room, good bed, excellent shower and a view across the water to Auckland.
As a listed building it's shortcomings can be forgiven, slightly tired, a bit dusty and worn with some peeling wallpaper.

There is a bus you can get from the airport to downtown Auckland pier very cheaply - runs 24 hours a day, needs no reservation, fabulous - I have used it, and only 18 NZD. Read about it @ skybus. Then you can take a short ferry from right downtown Auckland ferry right to Davenport and the Esplanade is only short stroll from Ferry. Super easy and inexpensive, and good view from ferry!
