We booked this room because there was a big accident along the way to cardwell and so we had to cancel our previous booking there. We found Hinchinbrook marine cove at Lucinda. Thought it was decent from the photos and it was only for a night stay. The room was very spacious. We were surprised to see 1 queen bed and 1 extra single bed at the corner of the room. The room was that spacious it even had 3 seater sofa. Appreciate the big TV too. The bathroom and room were clean though the light in the bathroom did not work for us. It just died... Guess that Hinchinbrook is a summer type of place but I suggest it is also good to provide thicker blanket during winter time as the night was very chilly for someone travelling from the South East Asia. We couldn't sleep due to coldness and that was bad... On top of that, the room wall was so thin we could hear our neighbour SNORING! That was THE WORST!!! There were plenty of room empty but why would they put us next to someone?…
This is a perfect location and the family who run it are friendly and really helpful. Big, clean room with a balcony with views of stunning Hinchinbrook Island. Thank you for a lovely stay. We will be back!
The only good thing about this hotel (not resort) was that my family only stayed one night...and i slept in the car. Pillows and sheets had numerous brown stains and literally smelled like faeces, i couldnt sleep and found the car cleaner and more comfortable. I told the kids not to shower or do their teeth here as the shower and sink was disgustingly dirty and still had other peoples hair in them. If you stay here...take LOTS of sanitiser. The single beds (for the kids) were positioned in main area with the tv so hubby and i couldnt put them to bed and watch tv - poor room plan but that was the least of our problems. We tried to ignore the rooms filthy state by swimming in the nice looking pool. It began okay until we all realised we were being eaten alive by bugs that looked as though they were breeding in the area...the sheer number made it clear something should have been done before it got to that point, perhaps closing the pool until the problem was rectified. Having the pool vacuum and hoses in the pool was also quite annoying...but not as annoying as the tools and ladder against our room wall that we had to squeeze past whenever we moved the car. Reluctantly returning to the room after going out for dinner and even attempting to get alternative accomodation, michael and his wife were drinking out front of reception and must not have recognised our car with michael chasing us halfway to our bungalow before realising we were allowed to be there. It goes without saying that we didnt wait for check out and left at approximately 6am. While the table full of empty bottles out front of reception was not a good look when we dropped off our key, it was much better than the stench of cigarette smoke which greeted us upon arrival.…
There seems to be some confusion as to whether this should be called a "resort" or a "motel". Our booking receipt said "resort" but the building said "motel". No matter, it is located in a great place right by the boat ramp, which was extremely convenient for our water taxi to Hinchinbrook Island. Also, the motel kindly let us leave our car on their property for the duration of our trek (4 days). Also, our room was large and clean. On the downside, the WiFi wasn't working but luckily the restaurant across the street did have it,…
The owners live on premises and are very accommodating. I arrived late and they were waiting up for me. I let them know I was heading out early to catch a boat to Hinchinbrook Island and they arranged to have breakfast brought to my room. They made accommodation for my car while I was hiking. The rooms are simple but very clean and include a number of amenities (microwave, hot pot, fridge) if you want to prepare a meal in your room. Its nice to be able to make a cup of coffee in the morning. I had a nice porch facing the ocean and chairs to enjoy the view. There's a nice pub and bistro a short walk from the room. I'm hard pressed to find anything to complain about. For the price, I think this was a great place to stay for a couple of nights. I don't think they have wifi service here, but that's not what I was here for. Wireless reception was spotty, but the point of being here was to unplug.…
"Great views of Hinchinbrook Island from the motel rooms. The bungalows are great value, but set back from water's edge"Read full review
