Detailed Reviews
Myself and some friends stayed in the Fincourt and the hospitality was second to none. Jackie met us on arrival and was more than accommodating. We were in a rush to get the the wedding after checking in and she offered us a lift to the wedding loaction (a 30 minute round trip) and a couple of beers on the house. We ended up taking a taxi but it was a very kind offer. The room was immaculate and the bathroom perfect. If you plan on coming in late, you have a private entrance so you don't have to worry about tip toeing through a front door. There's a very good taxi service in the area so there's no need to have any concerns about getting to and from wedding locations. I highly recommend the Fincourt.

Had a great welcome at the Fincourt from Jackie with a lovely glass of Guinness. Stayed for the weekend while attending a family wedding at Loughcrew. We had the two bed apartment rather than just a double and single room. The rooms were clean and bright upstairs, tea and coffee provided and nice to have the extra room downstairs & kitchenette rather than just two bedrooms.
No bannister on the stairs so not good for children but fine for adults. Didn't like the smoking area right outside in the court yard but I guess that's just the way the place is set up.
Breakfast was served til late morning and was a nice full Irish. Very relaxed atmosphere in the place and all the staff were lovely.

Thank you so much, it was a pleasure to meet you all. We will definitely look at closing the end of the staircase in Hunters Lodge. Some guest like the old rustic appeal, but we should have Hunters Lodge as child friendly as the guest house and the other self catering apartments. Thank you again for your review and your custom, hope to see you all soon, Nancy

We arrived for a hen night at the Fincourt Hotel and from the moment we got into the hotel we were met with a warm and friendly greeting. We then headed off to Causey Farm and the laugh we had! I wasnt sure what to expect on the farm but after my experience I would certainly recommend it to anyone! We got back to the hotel and in true girl style we had to doll ourselves up etc so we qute late coming down for dinner but Jackie, the hostess with the mostess, was so nice about it! We had a 3 course dinner and every course was mouth watering, really good tasty food. And the staff were so attentive especially Jackie! We danced the night away to a local DJ in the bar! The breakfast was lovely too and again served with a smile by Jackie. The cost for 1 night accomadation in the Fincourt with a coach both ways to Causey Farm, enterance to the farm with activities, 3 course dinner in the hotel and a full breakfast in the morning was only €110, which I thought to be very reasonable considering we were on a hen night! Bottles of wine in the hotel were a great price, I think it was 13euro for a bottle of red! I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone as the service was to a superb stanard!

We stayed for 1 night at the Fincourt, and it was o.k., but not great. The room was clean and comfortable enough, though a bit cramped. A huge problem was that the internet didn't work in the room. Apparently the Fincourt has a number of routers throughout the property, and only one of those signals reached our room. However, the password that the hotel provided did not work for that router. One of the staff members came up to our room to try to see if she could log on, and she wasn't able to. So we were left with no internet in our room.
The biggest problem was that when I went to check out the next morning, the woman at the desk ran my credit card for a rate that was 20 euros more than the 90 euro rate we had been quoted when we checked in. She never said anything, just charged me the higher rate. When I pointed out the error, she told me that the rate that I had been given the night before was wrong, and that the owner insisted I had to pay the higher rate. I asked to speak to the owner, and she hemmed and hawed for several minutes before finally calling the owner. The owner proceeded to yell at me over the phone, telling me that I had been quoted the wrong rate and there was nothing she was going to do about it. I've never heard of a hotel that refuses to accept their own mistake when overcharging, and instead insists after the fact that the guest has to pay a higher rate -- how unprofessional!
Since they had already run my credit card, I was really in a bind. I finally was able to settle with them for us to have breakfast included in the rate, but we really left with a horrible feeling about this hotel and the people that run it. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

So sorry to hear you were unhappy with the service you received. Unfortunately our staff member had the wrong Wifi code. This is now clarified. With regard to your room rate. When you rang from Kells to book your room you were quoted €100 for your room for 2 people. This rate includes breakfast, as do all our rates. However 3 people stayed in the room. Our rate for this is €120. On speaking to my wife Jackie she agreed to leave it at €100, for Bed& Breakfast for 3 people, this I think you will have to agree was fair. I can assure you Jackie did not, and would not yell at you or any guest. I do accept we made a mistake by not clarifying the number of guest that were checking in. For this I do apologise. I do hope you enjoyed the rest of your Irish trip and had a safe trip home. Kind regards Garry

I went here for my sister's hen weekend. They accommodated a group as big as ours no problem. The food was delicious, the rooms were lovely and we will definitely be back. We all had a fantastic time, the Fincourt staff were brilliant and they couldn't do enough for us

The Fincourt earns its #1 rating on Tripadvisor. Our room was clean and comfortable, Jackie was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was tops. The Fincourt is conveniently located in the village, close to restaurants, pubs, and stores.

Firstly, i want to premise this review by saying that the staff were very helpful and courteous. Their talents would be more suited to an establishment better than this.
1. This place is not a hotel, it is a pub with b&b at the back
2. We booked the 2 bed apartment for ourselves and 3 young kids. I specifically asked whether noise would be an issue to which i was told that the rooms were at the back of the building. Our apartment was directly of the courtyard Directly behind the pub. Sounds idyllic doesn't it. What wasn't mentioned was that the courtyard also acted as their smoking area. Consequently, we had shouting and roaring directly outside our glass door until 1.30am. My kids were terrified what with the very offensive language and people constantly falling against our door. Once the dance music finished after 1am and the crowd finally dispersed ( the pub has a DJ in it hence the very loud dance music ), we then had the noise of the staff cleaning until 2.45 am.
3. The beds were slightly damp ( I am presuming that no heating was on during the summer months )
4. No hot water. I went to the helpful barman who then put the heating on in the apartment and told us to wait a few minutes for it ( the water) to heat up. We gave it an hour and eventually had to have cold showers.
In 20 years of staying in hotels, I would definitely say that this was my worst experience by some distance in Ireland. If I got it free, I wouldn't spend another night here. My last bit of advice is if you can't find other accomadation within a 20 mile radius of Oldcastle, bring a tent. It will be warmer, dryer and quieter! Avoid this place at all costs!

Stayed for a couple of nights midweek and its a lovely clean place. The room at the back can be a little noisy as there are apartments at the back and the residents in the morning are quite noisy. The room was clean and spacious and the bed was firm and comfortable. The bathroom is clean and the water pressure is fab, proper power shower.
Breakfast is cooked fresh and plenty of choice with fruit, cereal and yoghurts available. They can't do enough for you and want you to keep eating, there's so much food.
Great staff and the owner is lovely, chatty and friendly. Definitely recommend and would return to, easy to get to

A great B&B at the back of a pub. We didn't have a problem with noise, but weren't around during busy periods. Right in the centre of town, it had nice rooms, a good breakfast and friendly staff. Very happy with our stay
