Room was a good size and cheap but dirty and dated. Also suspect the carpet had fleas.

Close to all places and lake is walkable distance
On the border of California and Nevada
Convenient to Casino, food court, shopping and lake

SunnyJoy answered the question perfectly! You should look for deals on Groupon or TravelZoo for stays at the resorts right at Heavenly Gondola, as well as staying at Kingsbury of Tahoe, which is right at the ski lifts. There are shuttles to the strip, which is very convenient, and one stops right in front of Kingsbury of Tahoe, or even stay at The Ridge.
