Motel 6, nothing new under the sun. Middle of November Motel 6 was more expensive in South Lake Tahoe than many other hotels, but I needed something quick and cheap. If I hadn't been exhausted, I should have looked around a bit more as no...More

Going anti-clockwise round the lake on Highway 50 onto Highway 89 via Camp Richardson and Emerald Bay takes less than 30 minutes. In winter that is an issue as near Emerald Bay it shuts frequently for avalanche control clearance but in summer should be fine. Going clockwise round the lake Highway 50 onto Highway 28 via Incline Village and Tahoe City takes 55 minutes. On approach to Emerald Bay there are sharp hairpin climbing bends with no barriers in places so don't go too crazy speed wise. Have fun there and don't spend too much in the casinos.
