On arrival we were met by a very helpful girl who showed us to our room. We were in the Bluebell room which was small but perfect for our needs. The room had al the expected amenities, TV, tea, coffee & biscuits and even had a Four Poster bed. The bathroom was well appointed with a roll top bath. Very...

This was our first visit to The Griffin for several years, but we have had similar dinners here for 10-12 diners in the past (because we are local) - and were returning because of previous good experiences. We were put on a table round the corner which was nice and private. There the benefit stopped! It took an age to...

The Griffin Inn is probably a prime example of the "gourmet" pub. Nestled in the East Sussex countryside with pleasant views, it's a perfect location for a first-class pub meal. A licensed hotel for more than 500 years, the pub is now renowned more for its food than the excellent beer on tap. The menu is varied: we had the...

Food, surroundings, ambience, staff outstanding. Really recommend this pub for a meal. Food was cooked to perfection. I had scallops as a starter and turbot as a main course. As well as a devine pear tart with Stilton ice-cream, was so delicious. I want to return soon. I did not stay but I imagine the rooms are equally impressive.

Stopped there last evening as we were working nearby the following morning. We travelled with our two dogs and have stayed in some amazing places with them. We were delayed on our journey down , supposed to have ETA 19.30. We never arrived until 20.30. I rang ahead to asked what time they stopped serving food. Luckily for us it...

We booked a table in the pub part of the Griffin as we had our guide dog puppy with us. She was made to feel welcome and enjoyed laying in front of the log burner! The 4 of us were impressed with the choice , slightly less than in the restaurant but still lads to choose from. The carrot and...

I had lunch at the Griffin recently, with a group of friends. The food was fantastic, I have eaten there several times in the past and cannot fault it. The pub is always buzzing with a friendly and fun atmosphere. I love how the menu seems to change on a regular basis ... Keep up the good work.. I can't...

I chose to stay at The Griffin due to its proximity to Sheffield Park and Wakehurst Place, both of which I wanted to visit. I'm afraid to say that I was somewhat disappointed with the stay here with my wife. When booking, I found that replies to emails took several days. On arrival, there was no greeting but eventually one...

Enjoyed lunch, on a Friday, with friends. We hadn't been for a good few years and thoroughly recommend the fish and chips! Cosy, homely setting. Service was a bit on the slow side and they ask you to leave your credit card with them, behind the bar, when ordering food. This was not acceptable to us so we paid for...

We didn't stay on this occasion, although have always enjoyed our stay in the past. This was a time to catch up with friends, the food was tasty & well presented. The wine exceptional & a good range of local beers. We all had an enjoyable evening in a lovely friendly atmosphere.
