The hotel staff and facilities were fantastic and couldn't really find fault. The room and view where stunning! As honeymooners, the villa upgrade, bottle of wine and how the bed was presented with flowers etc was lovely and want to thank the hotel for this. Everything you needed was available in the room (which was also stunning). The steep walk...

I have just spent a few sad moments reading harsh reviews of this place, but I want to share my experience to reassure anybody considering this hotel. I'll just mention some of the points the reviews bring up and turn them into another perspective...some complain about the trash in the ocean.....this is 2016 and we have a global challenge to...

Gorgeous hotel, the bungalows were impeccable (super private, we had a giant jaccuzzi and incredible bed). The nature itself was amazing-- world-class snorkeling right from the dock, monkeys and wild boars all over the hotel grounds, and turquoise blue water. The activities at the hotel, though, were shamelessly expensive and really not worth the prices (seriously, the snorkeling off the...

First impressions are great, like walking into a film set, admittedly there are areas that are in need of refurbishment, but we were told that this is due in November. It is expensive, my advice for dinner would be to avoid the special buffet dinners and order off the a la carte menu its much cheaper. The breakfasts were superb,...

At checking we only received our room at 4.30pm not at 3pm!!! We were told at check-in that since we are staying for 6 nights we have a complimentary transfer to and from the main land. We ask for recommendations of what we can do and was told that they will send us some information to our room by the...

We have stayed at the Gaya Island Resort for one week. Expecting (and paying for) a five star hotel we’ve been very disappointed from this vacation. Positive points: 1) Staff is generally very friendly. 2) The resort employs a resident naturalist. He and his team are very ambitious in protecting the nature in and around the resort. 3) Nice and...

Staff: restaurant and bar staff were excellent. Every single staff member from manager to gardener says hello with a smile when you pass them. Rooms: The rooms were a little too cold with the air con but room was lovely, especially the balcony. Room could have benefitted from a hair dryer and iron/ironing board...but we coped perfectly fine without. Beach/sea:...

A beautiful setting, the service was excellent, the staff could not do enough for us. Having the monkey's and bearded pigs visit us at our villa was magical. We signed up for snorkeling and expected some instruction. Unfortunately we weren't asked our level of experience (and I have never tried snorkeling), we were handed a mask and snorkel and told...

Everything about our trip to the Gaya Island Resort was superb - the friendly and attentive staff, the beautiful villas, the excellent food, the stunning views, the range of activities...the list goes on. We've just spent 5 nights of our honeymoon at GIR and loved every minute of it. Yes the food and drinks aren't cheap, but it's was worth...
