This B&B is only two miles from Wells and Cathy's instructions were crystal clear. What a charming and friendly hostess. She sat and talked to us, she offered suggestions for these two Aussies for the best places to see and the best restaurants to eat. Our room was comfortable, the Bathroom has a bath and the large range of toiletries...

We stayed for two nights in the " log cabin/ studio". I had booked last minute and was lucky to get the only two days available, I didn't realise just how lucky I was as I can easily see why this delightful rental is busy. Firstly the location is stunning , the scenery is just gorgeous and the amount of...

I think this is now the third time that I have reviewed Hillview Cottage and the peerless hospitality of Cathy and Michael Hay. We are fortunate enough to have stayed here 12 times now. It is our Glastonbury festival bolt-hole and recuperation point. Many, many muddy wellingtons have been de-scaled in their utility room over the years. Whilst the cottage...

We were delighted with our reception and just loved the "Studio", a pine chalet in the garden with a lovely rural view. Waking up in the morning was so peaceful. Unfortunately we only had a night to spend but would have happily stayed at least two more. Self-catering would have been possible but we went to the local pub for...

We stayed in one of the self catering houses on the grounds. It was the perfect hideaway. Tranquil surroundings, walking distance to the local pub, lovely owners and the little house was picture perfect.

During the course of this most recent annual pilgrimage we worked out that it was the 11th time that we had visited Cathy and Michael Hay at Hillview Cottage. The track record speaks for itself, but in my view the hospitality is better now that it has ever been. This is truly a lodging in a million. Without going into...

Up a narrow lane leading out of the Somerset village of Croscombe, Michael and Catherine Hay run a B&B which I urge everyone to visit because this is what the West Country is all about - simple & rustic with great views over the surrounding countryside, and only a short drive to Wells, with its magnificent cathedral, shops and restaurants....

I stayed in one of the small cottages. large room, a small kitchen and seating area looking out over the hills made my two days working in Wells most pleasant. The cottage was clean, decorations were eclectic and personal (paintings, some games, throws over every comfy chair) and the bed was large and most comfortable. I'm going to stay here...

I have been staying at this heavenly place for the last 15 years, always six times a year, sometimes up to twelve, if I am really lucky! For me, there is nowhere else to touch it, or even come close! You will be cosseted, entertained and enchanted by Michael and Cathy, they are utterly devoted to making sure their guests...

David and I stayed in The Studio for our Honeymoon during October half term. We were greeted like old friends, even though a couple of emails back and forth were all the previous communication we had had. Nothing was too much trouble for Cathy and Michael, and we were welcomed into their beautiful home for a delicious breakfast on the...
