I stayed 6 nights at Finca Magdalena, and I would have stayed longer if weather had been drier. I liked the volumes, the views, the kind staff, watching the howler monkeys from the finca, and the location for hiking maderas volcano. Its a 15mn hike from the main road through a beautiful path (you can meet monkeys there and lots...

I have stayed at Finca Magdalena 3 times in the last 11 years during each of my trips to Nicaragua and have loved every stay. If you are looking for an upbeat, fine dining, luxurious experience, look elsewhere. The finca is not a high class place but instead a very humble, organic, quiet and simple adventure. This co-op is owned...

I traveled with a group of friends. We went there mainly because it's a Cooperativa and we wanted to encourage it. For 4$, it is a food value if you are not too difficult. Beds in the dorms are camp beds. I didn't mind and had a good night sleep. Food service was however a bit problematic. It took ages...

If you want luxury dont go to Finca Magdalena. If youre looking for a place where you can sleep and have a proper meal: just go. The surrounding is amazing and the sunsets too. I stayed in a dorm and the beds were surprisely comfortable. The rooms can be noisy, so bring some earpluggs with you. The showers are ok,...

We were told to come here, and when we arrived, we could not figure out why. They have a lot of rooms, all of them were empty, there was only one other person staying there at the time! When most places in Nicaragua are booked solid at this time. Some of the rooms she showed us had no window, and...

Quiet place in the mountains. The walk/drive up is not easy but so worth it! Dont expect luxury. You get nature and authenticity. Best volcano and lake view ever! Its like a different world.... Even worth going up for a beer or to grab a bite!

Finca Magdalena is definitely not the classic backpacker hostel. The finca is actually a working coffee farm, that also rents out rooms. So if you expect many people, community areas and a perfectly working wifi, don't come here! This place is all about nature! The views are incredible and the food is simple but very good. Everything is prepared from...

I arrived at finca magdalena at 6 pm, after doing a long hike along the road without any lights. It took me around 25 minutes to walk up there from the road,. When we arrived, I had expected a lot of backpackers and a great atmosphere, because it is so highly recommend in Lonely Planet, but there was only a...

The setting of Finca Magdalena is unbeatable! The hostel's in an old barn, so the rooms and bathrooms are pretty rustic, but the staff works hard to keep them clean. The views from the upstairs balcony are breathtaking - it's hard to beat watching a sunset over the volcano and the lake! The food was basic but good, and cheap....

We didn't stay here overnight so I can't speak to that. We visited to see the petroglyphs and check out the coffee production. It's a lovely old building that is in need of some attention - but that just adds to the ambiance. The hike up to the petroglyphs is quite easy, and you have a great chance to see...

“We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. The bathrooms are downstairs from the rooms, and there was a group of really loud people there the first night, so our room was pretty noisy. The 2nd night was great because we were some of the only people there!”
