We booked the private room last minute as we couldn't find a room elsewhere on the island, the room was verrrry basic, it was $55/night with dinner, so pricey considering. Dinner was reasonable but it turned out to be the only dodgy meal we had the whole trip to nicaragua... The co-op projects and the farm are brilliant and it...

5 of 5 for hiking. 2 of 5 for accommodations. Went for a hike on the volcano, then lunch. The hike is pretty much uphill the entire way, but it is very nice. Not much to see of the coffee plantation, but the jungle was nice with cool birds and monkeys. Great petroglyphs. Lunch was good. Had a chicken soup...

An oasis inside an oasis Finca Magdalena is the most beautiful place I saw in the island. All in all Ometepe is extremely unique and beautiful island. I stayed a couple of nights on the side of Altagracia, switches to Zopilote and finally to Finca Magdalena. Finca Magdalena was astonishing. You arrive it by taking a 15-min walk uphill-ish from...

The staff at Finca Magdalena were universally helpful and friendly. The meals were well prepared and reasonable. The coffee was excellent and the beer cold and inexpensive. There were howler monkeys in the forest nearby to wake you up if the rooster did not and a flock of turkeys kept me entertained for awhile when they would return my gobble...

We didn't stay at the B&B, we just visited to see the coffee plantation. We wanted to do a coffee tour on our trip and we heard that Magdalena was the place to go on the island. It was only $2 each to get in, so the price was good. They didn't have an English speaking guide and unfortunately we...

Finca Magdalena has incredible lush grounds full of amazing plants and flowers with an amazing view of the volcano. We hiked and enjoyed seeing the coffee plants and production on the farm along with incredible vegetation.

Would have liked the place, if it hadn't been for the fact that I had a lot of money taken from my bag in my single room. They just told me "oh that's strange", and that I was the only one with the key to the padlock. They wouldnt help me contact the police, so I could get a report...

I stayed 6 nights at Finca Magdalena, and I would have stayed longer if weather had been drier. I liked the volumes, the views, the kind staff, watching the howler monkeys from the finca, and the location for hiking maderas volcano. Its a 15mn hike from the main road through a beautiful path (you can meet monkeys there and lots...

I have stayed at Finca Magdalena 3 times in the last 11 years during each of my trips to Nicaragua and have loved every stay. If you are looking for an upbeat, fine dining, luxurious experience, look elsewhere. The finca is not a high class place but instead a very humble, organic, quiet and simple adventure. This co-op is owned...

“We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. The bathrooms are downstairs from the rooms, and there was a group of really loud people there the first night, so our room was pretty noisy. The 2nd night was great because we were some of the only people there!”
