If done correctly this Eco resort could be a stunning hidden gem, unfortunately I think the owners have given up. The biggest problem we had was that the property has Eco toilets, meaning basically outhouses not flushing toilets, this was not disclosed on the website or by our travel agent and was a huge problem for my 73 year old...

This place is awesome! Beautiful views from the rooms, bar AND pool, great drinks, delicious (if pricey) food. Staff is really friendly and it is worth the trek out to the isolated part of the island for this peaceful oasis. $30 taxi ride from Moyogalpa and a steep-ish 1.5 k road onto the compound that your taxi may or may...

I stayed here at the end of November 2015 with my husband, mother and 2 year old son. This lodge is nestled up on the hill. It is a bit of a rough drive up, the road is extremely bumpy. Upon arriving we were greeted by our host and shown to our cabin. The cabins are very basic. There is...

After reading about Totoco Eco Lodge in Conde Nast, expectations were high. The setting and views upon arrival were great. The ride from the ferry was about 45 minutes with the last 1.5 miles mostly uphill ( some of it paved, some of it rugged with rocks as pavement). The rooms do not have a/c but do have fans. The...

Totoco catches the peaceful and mystical vibe of Ometepe island in all its essence. It is a paradise, for those who want to spend some time with nature. Our cabin, Tonatiu, was really big, clean and comfortable, with a huge bed repaired from mosquito nets and a beautiful terrace with hammocks overlooking Conception. It is built in a way that...

Totoco has an unrivalled location overlooking the whole island and the volcanoes. Staff are really lovely, especially Eddie on the front desk who organized everything and was an absolute pleasure to chat to. The hike up Volcano Maderas was organized by a really professional guide, who had extensive knowledge of the flora & fauna. The hike was truly an incredible...

This place on arrival was amazing! We were blown away by the sights and the pool and the general vibe about the place. We were a bit taken back that when we were organising our ferry to the island they offered to pick us up which was great...until we realised that it cost $37 for the privilege. Also the food...

Our first time in an eco lodge and we had a wonderful experience. We stayed in the cabin called Tonatui, very spacious with a fabulous bamboo roof and a large double bed and with the open screened windows it was very fresh. There is a super terrace with hammocks to enjoy the amazing views of the Concepcion Volcano and Lake...

This was my first (and probably last) visit to an eco-lodge, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Other reviewers have already waxed lyrical about its stunning location, but quite frankly there isn't much more to recommend this hotel unless you are prepared to set aside all of the shortcomings as a concession to its unquestionable Eco-credentials. Before you get...

I had never been to an eco-lodge before and so did not know what to expect. The outstanding feature of Totoco is its setting, with stunning views towards Concepcion volcano, and surroundings of natural rainforest and Ometepe Island cultivated land. Enjoying a cocktail in the open-air bar area at sundown is an unforgettable experience. On arrival, we were given a...
