The moment we walked in the door we were made to fell so welcome at this beautiful gem tucked close to the lovely sandy beach. The garden room was outstanding ,large and delightful with its free standing bath that could easily be sectioned off if necessary. The added bonus of this hotel is it's standard of food served in the...

You could very easily drive past The Gallivant without realising. Basically the outside could do with a rethink. But once you are inside and once you've tasted the food you'll forgive them. We stopped for lunch on a Saturday. It was excellent. We couldn't fault it. Good healthy food, sensible portions, excellent service and reasonable. The Hotel was fully booked,...

We had a little hiccup in the beginning in that I booked the Gallivant as a birthday treat for my wife who was expecting a town centre hotel so she wasn't impressed when we arrived - my bad! With the help of the amazing and incredible gem that is Kelly she totally changed my wifes mind and we both had...

This place is a little gem. A wonderfully relaxing place to escape the world. The food and accommodation was exceptional and beautifully crafted without being pretentious, I felt right at home straight away. It's location by the beach tops off the experience. I will definitely be coming against.

We stayed one night at the Gallivant, enjoying afternoon tea, an evening meal and breakfast. The food was superb, beautifully presented, very tasty and locally sourced. The location is excellent, just opposite Camber Sands, a beautiful wide expanse of beach. Our room was tastefully decorated with wooden panels and a wet room en suite and was named the 'winter room'...

A pleasant family outing;wife;son; & granddaughter. We ate well: Parsnip soup, sea bream, Xmas parfait/ pate, cod, chocolate delice/ bread/olives, steak, sticky toffee pudding/ fish cake; partridge, Xmas parfait. All much enjoyed, except for fish cake, which was minute (?stickleback)- no potato filling, but still difficult to identify contents. i was only wine drinker: NZ sauvignon blanc & sangiovese (house...

The food is top notch. Reception staff very welcoming but bar and waiting staff slightly offhand. Rooms are expensive for what you get but then they are close to the restaurant! Some of the 'finishing' in the room could do with improvement. Wardrobes had lights but the doors didn't close properly so the lights were on all night. A large...

We stayed over NYE for the 2 night getaway. Food and room included in package (£700 total). Food: 5 course dinner, cooked breakfasts, 3 course la carte, afternoon tea (literally) and cake. Everything that passed through our lips was outstanding, and we'd return for it in a heartbeat. I can't recommend it highly enough. Hotel: We had a garden room,...

Wanted a short break at the end of the xmas holiday and booked at short notice. When looking wasn't too impressed with the exterior but inside turned out fine. The reviews here tell the right story. It's a nice place and they describe themselves as a restaurant with rooms which is right. The rooms are relatively small but nicely presented....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to our coastal restaurant with rooms, across the road from the dunes of Camber Sands and beautiful sandy beach beyond. Inspired by the coastal motels you might find in California, we're a calm and relaxing hideaway from the stresses and strains of modern life. We have 20 amazing bedrooms all decorated with an eye to the Hamptons and serve great food using almost exclusively locally sourced fresh ingredients. In 2016 we were included in The Times 'Coolest Beach Hotels - No. 4', The Mirror's 'Top 10 Seaside Hotels in the UK' and Squaremeal's 'UK's Best 100 Restaurants'. The private coastal garden incorporates mini secluded decks behind all the Garden and Luxury Garden rooms and is also home to The Beach Hut, where guests can enjoy relaxing massages and lovely facials after a day on the beach using ethical and natural health and beauty products that are exclusively blended in the UK. ... more   less
