I sometime read reviews and wonder why people take photographs of parts of their room! For the first time, sadly, we did! Yes we got a last-minute room, yes we agreed to inflated rate as trying to support business like this after lockdown and yes we were told the room was small for an extra bed - BUT, we did not expect or pay for a bad smelling, mouldy and damp room. Called The Orangerie, I thought we had lucked out as owner said she did not put this on booking.com etc. No wonder!! As soon as we were showed the room, we pointed out the musty smell and were told to put the Air Con on! As this didn’t work, and the guy who would look at this was the chef, we borrowed a fan! Only one tiny window was able to be opened and a poor night sleep was had! I am a mild asthmatic and I

Thoroughly recommend this hotel. We had a lovely comfy stay in Dunwich room. The breakfast was very good and the meal we had in the restaurant was nicely presented and very tasty. All in all perfect for a nice weekend away. Jacqui & Les Watson (Kent)

Running a busy large restaurant in London myself, I'm naturally critical by instinct but rarely leave reviews on this site but felt this time was a must! I cannot fault anything about our incredible stay the last 5 nights. The owners and staff did not only make us feel like part of the family, the service and food was incredible. Book immediately you will not be disappointed! Satis house is beautiful in every way, arriving at what I thought was Downton abbey. The rooms way exceeded my expectations, everything you would want and nothing too much trouble from the team. The staff, obviously well trained by the hands-on owners and super competent and so welcoming General Manager, were there for all our needs, the waitresses attentive, competent, efficient and quite clearly love

An unexpected treat as members of my family couldn’t make the trip. The owner kindly allowed me to stay instead. A beautiful house with kind and considerate staff who actively listen to residents views. A perfect base for exploring some of the Suffolk coast and countryside. I would definitely stay again as the service was impeccable.

Had a lovely night away at this charming little hotel. Dating back to Georgian times, rooms are quirky and interesting. Hotel was clean and comfortable and the bed in our room very comfortable. The staff made sure I was able to have a vegan meal and breakfast which was delicious. Eunice looked after us during the evening meal and the service was impeccable. Charles Dickens stayed there whilst writing Great Expectations so lots of history to explore. Highly recommend
