1st hotel experience post Covid lockdown and it was a great one. Friendly and helpful staff, very clean, comfortable and tastefully styled hotel. Scrumptious breakfast. Felt safe, clean and very welcoming. Would recommend.
We stayed for 3 nights in the Dunwich room and had nothing but praise for the hotel and the staff. We had been socially isolating, and had some qualms about a stay away, but could not fault the covid precautions taken by the hotel management. The room was clean and spacious, the decor of the hotel good and in keeping with the age of the building, and the food, both dinner and breakfast, excellent. Good ingredients well cooked. Add to this very friendly and helpful staff. We hope to return sometime.
Very disappointing overnight stay. Room advertised as a deluxe garden room, with patio, on arrival found to be a wooden pod with an unkept patio. Unable to check-in until 5pm supposedly due to intensive cleaning reference COVID 19, yet an empty water bottle from the previous guest was found on a shelf, large amounts of dust on the telephone and behind the bathroom bin. Shower cubicle in need of a clean and replacement tiles due to mould, inner light also not working. One bedside light did not work and the other was broken, unable to angle as expected. The emergency light above the bed had a blue plaster stuck over it to dim the brightness. This room certainly did not meet the charge of £155 without breakfast per night. On complaining at reception I was met with a rather cold…
Stayed 1 night this week on DB&B Basis. Check in fine and room whilst hot was OK with comfy bed. Very low water pressure in bathroom meant a bath took an age to run and shower was poor. Breakfast good with excellent quality sausages and bacon. Only ourselves and one other couple for dinner so restaurant lacked atmosphere. Young waiter whilst pleasant lacked any knowledge of the offering. Food was OK. Main reason for concern was the pricing structure of the set meal options. Have no issue with paying a supplement for high end options but throughout starters, mains and deserts the vast majority of items attracted a supplement. Sharp business practice I feel! Will probably not return.
My wife andI stayed here for a couple of nights 11/12 August, just wished we had booked for longer. The Framlingham, four poster room was superb, with our own balcony overlooking well tended grounds.Although Covid affected staffing regs,Cara and her team coped amazingly well in these difficult times. Both breakfast and dinner on both days were lovely and if you get the chance dont pass up Andys lamb dish! Staff were on hand at all times withhelp and smiles.A special mention to young Jacob who was an absolute professional at the tables and looked the part in his new waistcoat! Thanks again Cara,we ve found a gem of a hotel, and will revisit soon, sorry we brought the key back but trust you received it ok!
