We stayed here for two nights. This is a very interesting place and just the fact that you are reading this review means you are a bit adventurous. This hacienda is about an hour from Merida. It is not easy to find. Many of the guests we spoke with had trouble including us. It s not your normal luxury property....

We were recommended to stay here since we enjoy more authentic properties; everything was beautiful, peaceful, quiet, very unique. loved the room, Casita #2. Room very clean, large, great bed, etc. This hotel is about 3 and half hours drive from Cancun. It is about 45 minutes from Merida. You need to have a rental car and the drive was...

We planned a day trip to the hotel to have a nice meal and sit by the pool. The facilities are beautiful and well-maintained and the service was impeccable. They have large chairs with big cushions, towel service included and two hammocks at the end of the pool that swing out over the water. The grounds are panted and maintained...

This is a magical place to stay near Merida. This is a Sheraton luxury collection property. The place is a little hard to find it took us a while as it is not completely sign posted. It is near Izmal on the highway there is a sign for the hacienda. When we arrived the manager checked us in promptly offered...

We were here for a destination wedding. The property is old and beautiful. Each room is unique, comfortable & spacious. The food and service was among the best anywhere no matter what the hour. The only "limitation" was that there is literally nothing to do except relax, read, get a massage & enjoy the hospitality. It's far from everything, but...

The place is wonderful. Vegetation is amazing and everything is spacious and beautiful. But the best part of this hotel is the friendly service. We were just walking around the property and someone offered a private tour and explained the history of the place, took us all around and made sure we were satisfied with the explanation. Food is very...

Wow! This place is away from everything and a wonderful place to walk in nature. The hacienda was a henequen (fiber for rope etc) plantation back in the 1800's. It was restored 18 years ago. It is not in Tixkokob. It is 11 km from Cacalchen a small village off of the highway which is 15 minutes from Izamal. When...

We have stayed during one night at Hacienda Hotel San Jose. It is really a great place to be but a bit overprized. However as my wife and I had a few days to spend just as a couple without kids, we enjoyed the hotel very much. The location and the rooms are beautifully decorated and lets you travel back...

Atmospheric location and nice rooms and good massage. The food was good; but not top class; the service was very good. Improvements - the owners should invest in renovating the paths at the property Was a good base to visit Izamal, Progresso, Celestun and Merida

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hacienda San Jose is an emblematic building erected in the 18th century that, even after undergoing restoration, preserves the pastel blues of its facade, its decoration, and the murals in the chapel. Located just a 45 minute drive from Mérida’s International Airport, this place is perfect as a starting off point to visit other sceneries such as the Balancanche caves, Izamal or the mythical Pyramids of Chichén Itzá. Lavender blue colors are all around the corners of Hacienda San Jose. Its 15 rooms and suites, spread around a colonial patio with captivating ambience, will take you back in time to the past but with the amenities of this century. The former vegetables garden of the old residence is currently a site for a fantastic pool and Jacuzzi that, along with the surrounding Mayan palapas, present guests with a unique life experience. ... more   less
