We decided to try this as there were new(ish) owners and we had enjoyed the food with the previous owners so hoped this would be replicated. The food was variable in quality, the crab pate was excellent but the houmous tasted of nothing in particular, they had run out of artisan bread (it was a bank holiday monday) which was... More

I can not recommend the Helyar Arms enough. We received a warm welcome from the friendly hosts. We stayed overnight and our room was cosy and very comfortable. The food was perfect as was the atmosphere. Our breakfast Sunday morning was delicious, full English with a choice of fruit, cereals, yogurts and juices if we wished. We will definitely be... More

Met friends here for a relaxed meal together unfortunately we arrived and were given the menus immediately and told to order quickly as they were busy. Very abrupt manner but other staff very friendly and efficient. Meal was average but nice. We ate our meal and were then left to chat. Will maybe try it again.

only average, small limited menu, no special board. No back ground music, service ok nothing special. Village setting, but could do better, lovely old building tastefully refurbished, lacking warmth. Overall wouldn't be bothered to visit again

My friends and I had visited this pub a few years ago and it was not very impressive at the time. When we heard that it had been sold and refurbished we were keen to try it again. First impressions were good as it is a lovely old building with tasteful sympathetic decor. However on looking at the food menu we... More

Better to book in advance, because this pub is very popular. This was the second time we went there and in both the food was excellent. The atmosphere brings you back to the past and the place is warm and welcoming. The staff is gentle and this is a place where we would like to come back very soon!

Visited here for first time after checking out on line. Good sized car park. Nice friendly greeting, shown to our table and menus provided. Great choice at reasonable price. Wine List good but slightly pricey. We chose goose and plum burgers which were delicious, just melted in the mouth. This was followed up by one of special ice creams, elderflower... More

This is an excellent pub with a very good restaurant. Service was very friendly and efficient and the food and drink are of a very high standard.
