I didn't stay here, but stopped off on our bikes for some tea and cakes at the cute tearooms beside the chateau. Worth the difficult uphill bike ride for some well-earned scones with jam and cream and delicious chocolate guiness cake and selection of teas. We even tried the wine and bought a couple of cases (and collected them later... More

We spent a couple of days at the Chateau Carbonneau. The pictures on the website of the Jonquil room do not do it justice. The rooms are huge and comfortable, tastefully decorated. So peaceful. The grounds were very well-kept and the pool, although not heated, was exactly what I needed. We didn't realize how much of a recharge we needed... More

My mom and I stopped in for tea in the afternoon at the Glass House at Chateau Carbonneau. It was wonderful! Adjacent to the Chateau itself, the tea room is charmingly appointed and comfortable. We had fresh scones with cream and jam and a Guinness chocolate cake to die for. There were also several other cake options as well as... More

WE were in the area for a wedding and we loved the place! The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated overlooking wonderful grounds, the owners speak flawless English - well she is from New Zealand) and will give you lots of tips on things to do and places to see, and lots of information and tasting of their excellent wine!... Chateau Carbonneau was a superb find and well worth visiting if you are in the Dordogne / Perigord areas. The hosts Wilfrid & Jacquie look after you very well and give you all the info you need for sightseeing the local area. The bedrooms are both comfortable and spacious and have stunning views over the farmland and immaculate grounds. Jacquie's... More

Chateau Carbonneau is an imposing building with beautifully decorated rooms, each of individual character and all with superb bathrooms and enchanting views. The owners are both very welcoming and informative. We much enjoyed the wine-tasting and all the details that Wilfred, our host, gave us during our tour of the cellars, and the food that Jacquie, his wife, prepared was... More

A marvellous place - full of light and calm. The Chateau itself is a welcoming family home with large rooms looking out over the vineyards, grounds and farmland. Jacquie is a superb host and the meals in the evening are a wonderful chance to meet and talk to people from all over Europe - as wel as strong representation from... More

Sadly we only stayed for two nights, but they were both memorable and left us with a desire for more! The property is beautifully sited with lush gardens and restful surrounds. The Chateaux is all one could wish for, but what makes it is the chatelaine! Jacquie is both charming and attentive to her guests. Nothing was too much trouble... More

As a long standing resident in the area I have always admired the beautiful Chateau Carbonneau. With its gracious facade and stunning conservatory seen from the top of a long tree-lined drive it has seemed a fairy tale destination. To my delight I discovered recently that the delightful and friendly owners have opened one of their pretty outbuildings as a... More

The only problem was that we hadn't booked to stay longer! If you are looking for somewhere from which to explore the area or simply for a hotel in which you can relax, undisturbed by the pace of modern life, then look no further than Wilfred and Jacqui's beautiful, comfortable and elegant Chateau. We will certainly be staying longer next... More
