we only stayed 2 nights. but my rooms did not look like any of the photos. We booked a single and a double as I stayed with friends. We planned to visit a few areas around Posadas. The hotel maybe was once an important building in the area. not sure how to describe this, as is very old fashioned. people were ok, rooms old. and lacking love + character. Price was very reasonable so I guess was value for money.

We arrived in Almodovar del Rio today, where we moved into our Hostel (very friendly hosts!). We were having an appetite and could not find a restaurant open in Almodovar. On the way we had seen Hotel Restaurant Maria along the A-431, so we decided to drive back the 10km. Arriving there, the owner said they had no food left, just some jamon and queso. Without looking at the menucard we ordered a plate with about 50 grams of ham and 6 small pieces of tasteless cheese + two glasses of wine. At least we would have something in our stomachs. We chatted to some other Dutch people, who had done exactly the same, only they ordered double of what we had ordered. When the restaurant closed, we were given the bills and this added up to a shocking €21 for us an €43 for the other couple. This was outrageous. The two staff members showed us the menucard and explained the type of jamon was the best of the best. We were expecting the last pickings of the day and we had to pay the Max Price. We argued until we weighed an ounce, but the two ladies maintained that we should be happy to have been given top quality jamon. I told them that we had been eating exactly the same jamon during the past week for a quarter of the price. They refused to give a refund and on top of all the misery, one of the ladies said that the prices had been topped up by €2 per portion, which was not yet visible on the menucard. Even this ‘fraud’ she refused to adapt. TODAY WE WERE CHEATED!!!!

This is a very affordable, clean, simply decorated Spanish country hotel. The coffee ( always a priority for us) is excellent and the service friendly and efficient. Located on a main road, there is double glazing to keep traffic noise at bay. Check out the fresh doughnuts !

If you do not want to stay in the city of Cordoba, then this hotel is ideally placed, as the coach from Posadas stops right outside Hotel Maria and for €2-75 takes you right into the bus/train station. Lunch in the hotel is superb value, and the atmosphere is wonderful. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.
