We enjoyed 10 amazing days at this place. Having booked a bungalow, we had a small kitchen, our own personal terasse and small pool as well, which was perfect after a day of sightseeing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We can only recommend this place! Tip: you need to rent a car, in order to get around on the island - but the location of the hotel is ideal to reach all parts, being centrally located.
We decided to spend 10 days under the sun and selected Guadeloupe as the destination. For once, we chose an hotel inland and not by the sea. The choice was a good one. The building where the restaurant and bar are, is beautiful. The food is good (see below for more comments) and the cocktails are tasty and not fail in alcohol (mainly rhum). Staff is very pleasant, efficient, dedicated and at your service. The owner is very dedicated to keep a satisfying customer base. The domain is vast and lush, the swimming pool is surprising. Our room was in the corner, large enough for the two of us and with separate toilets. If you are not tall, you (like my spouse) may have problems to go in bed as the bed is very high. House cleaning is great although coffee is not renewed after the first day. the hotel is brand new but TV is working on wi-fi, so do not expect many channels and great image. There are a few things that we believe should be improved if you have a long stay in the hotel (but most of travelers stay 1 or 2 nights) : The restaurant. First the restaurant is not open every evening, the menu is the same every day although very good. You have to take your car if you want to have diner outside and I do not recommend driving at night. And the bar is only open at night. This is something that has to be changed if stays get longer. Choose the bungalows as you may do your own kitchen. At the end we kept a very good memory of our stay…
Our group had a wonderful time and experience in Guadeloupe and had a wonderful time staying at Habitation Saint Charles. We stayed for a week between 2 rooms, and 6-7 adults. We are seasoned travelers with no expectations of being catered to as Americans. We had dinner 5 nights at the hotel, and 2 at a local Pizza place called Ton Ton. Thursday-Saturday nights have what we called a "fancier" menu. As a group we tried mostly all items on the menu, and they were all fabulous. Cooked perfectly as requested, the sides were wonderful, and the waiters were excellent. Christophe and JonahEl took care of us at different times, and we felt very comfortable dining. Sunday-Wednesday has a more semi-formal menu, with a Burger that I thought was very good. The rooms themselves were excellent. Beds were made each day, with an obvious tidying of the place. The air conditioners in each bedroom worked very well. The Hot Water is on solar power so it is a bit intermittent. Being the last of 4 to shower one night was brutal, but didn't impact the stay. The pool was lovely, and the local cat on the property was very friendly and petable! The variety of breakfast each morning was exquisite. Parking was Ample. The location in our opinion was perfect. It's a 30 minute drive to Boullainte where we spent a lot of time. It's about the same to Baie-Mahault where we took a boat tour, Le Gosier night market where we spent an evening, and about 50 minutes to Trois-Riveries where we departed and returned to on a day trip to Les Saintes. Bertrand the owner offered suggestions and was very helpful. The front desk agent Mida was exceptional as well. As Americans that spoke very very little French (we tried), we found it easy to communicate on the island. Not many spoke good english, not many understood our english, but we were able to accomplish all things. Spending a couple months on DuoLingo helped tremendously.…
The hotel was very clean, bed comfortable. It was sort of centrally located to run around the island. The property is much smaller than you would think from the pictures. It is in the middle of a residential area. You really don't have anywhere to walk around. We were only there 2 days, we had a rental car and were gone most of the time. The island is easy to drive, and you would want a rental car if staying here. So for just sleeping and showering worked for us.
We booked 3 rooms in this hotel through booking.com and paid in full at the time of booking. The website said reception was open until 10pm and we expected to arrive sometime between 7&8pm. A combination of a small delay to our flight, a long wait for our bags, and then picking up our hire car taking an age meant that we didn't arrive until around 9.30pm. Unfortunately there was nobody there, even though we had a reservation and so they should have known we were coming. There were two "emergency" numbers on the door - we tried them both repeatedly without anyone picking up (good job it wasn't a serious emergency!). We had been travelling for 20 hrs at this point and were exhausted. I had to call Booking.com, who refunded us and authorised for us to book alternative accommodation. If you are coming in on an evening flight, be aware that staff may all go home before you arrive and you may have nowhere to sleep! Also be aware that the accommodation is in the middle of nowhere.…
