We spent a night here in April and enjoyed our stay. We arrived by train and decided to walk to the hotel, as we could see the roof thru the trees and it looked like it was only a short walk. The lady in the cafe at the station told us to walk back along the train line - a...

Like with real estate, location, location, location. And this one is perfect. Very quiet, nice views and relative central in the Western Douro region. The Quinta is historical grandeur. So expect squeaking floors, antique furniture and older bathroom equipment. There is some maintenance needed here and there (we had to fix the shower outlet) but then you do not pay...

A great place to relax - wonderful food served with local fruits and superb red wine from the unforgettable Douro valley. Hotel is easily accessed (walking along track!)from Ermida railway station. In summer evening meals served outside - in winter served indoors next to real log fire.

So the place is pretty basic in terms of hospitality. Most of the credit goes to the marvelous location, the wonderful view of the river and the gardens, and the quiet atmosphere - you can really blend with the nature around you.You can stay either in the main building -old house- with its special features and authenticity, or in the...

The hotel is hidden from it all, yet stone throw from the scenic little rail station by the river shore. You can also get there by car. Stylish buildings, everything kept in the consistent colonial decor. Our group of 7 stayed in the separate building. We had three bedrooms with three en- suites. Plus dining-living-kitchen with the panoramic views towards...

we stayed at the Quinta da Ermida two weeks ago during our round trip in Portugal and I have to say that this was the highlight of our trip. The place is BEAUTIFUL, big old house on the Douro river, with a big swimming pool , not too far from Porto (1 hour) and very quiet. even though it is...

We stayed in a suite, with a sitting room, bedroom and large bathroom. The views from any window were spectacular, and no one could really look in, so that was nice. One big flaw here, though, was the obvious sewer smell from some trap or waste pipe issue. We tried plugging each fixture, running water to clear them etc, but...

This is a very special property. I would highly recommend it to people wishing to experience typical rural Portuguese hospitality. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. We were late to arrive and they still produced a dinner to rival any good restaurant. Furthermore they made no issue about our late arrival nor about a later breakfast when we slept...

Having read previous reviews, visiting Quinta da Ermida was to be the highlight of our Portuguese tour. How disappointing! True, the weather was not as good as previous reviewers obviously enjoyed but that only put more attention to the house and not the views which can be seen from any number of houses. We had the Superior Double Room. Agreed...

Our Portuguese friend recommended this place and for good reason. It was inexpensive and had beautiful grounds. Antonio was a very gracious host and in spite of being in the midst of harvest season (grapes) he took the time to see that we were very well taken care of. His property includes extensive vineyards from which we were offered generous...
