Mount Brandon is one of the southeast’s most attractive self-catering properties. These two cottages are located just outside of Graiguenamanagh only 5 minutes’ walk from the river Barrow - a haven for game and coarse anglers alike. They are 4-star Failte Ireland approved and offer all mod cons.

Detailed Reviews
These houses are really pretty and comfortable. Everything is spotless. They are really close to Graiguenamanagh. It's the perfect place to bring a dog for long river walks. The house has everything you could need including a safe, fridge, chest freezer, microwave, t.v., washing machine and dryer ( make sure to bring washing powder). The beds are really comfortable and the owners (who live on site) are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying at Brandon House.
p.s.the WiFi works really well and 4G is very good in the area.
The town has a great variety of cafes and pubs serving food outdoors only due to covid restrictions. The best takeaway in my opinion is the duiske diner. The waterside cafe serves amazing coffee and sweet treats like scones brownies etc. There is so much to do in the area. If you like pretty gardens visit Woodstock which is a short drive away

We stayed here for a week in July 2020. Things are very different on staycations with covid but this place was so relaxed and clean. It is so peaceful here with no noise so very easy to relax. The house was very clean and had all the amenties that we needed as a family with two kids. The pottery is closed at the moment due to covid but they where very helpful and put on a private class for our two children which was much appreciated and the kids had great fun and even got a go on the pottery wheel. Rooms are very comfortable to stay in. Great location for visiting many of the attractions in the area. Would recommend staying here

Hello the Corrigans! Thank you kindly for your complimentary review. We are doing our very best to follow best government advice and have completed the Covid-19 charter from Failte Ireland. So we are doing our bit to keep this virus under control. Delighted the kids got to do some pottery while you were here. Isn't it a fantastic facility to have right here at the cottages? Please come and stay with us again the next time you are planning a trip to the sunny southeast. With every good wish from Graiguenamanagh! Stay safe Andrea

We had a lovely 5 night stay in Mount Brandon Cottages in July 2021. We rented both of the self- catering houses, one for a family of 4 and the other for a family of 3 and it couldn't have worked out better. Both houses were really well equipped with all you could need for a short break.
The communal garden and BBQ area was really lovely and quiet and meant both families could mingle outdoors most mornings and evenings (especially as we timed our visit with an Irish heatwave!). The garden was very safe too for the kids to play. Andrea was the perfect host and the marble chocolate cake upon arrival was a lovely surprise!
I would highly recommend the cottages for a family or friends get-together. Its a short walk/drive down to the lovely village of Graignemanagh where there are shops, pubs, takeaways and restaurants. The riverside is lovely, and people were swimming and fishing when we were there. There is also a lovely walk (Barrow Way) along the river which brings you to St. Mullins. All in all it was a lovely relaxing trip. The only stressful part was trying to get ready for a very early checkout time of 9am!

Hello Sinead, thank you kindly for your kind review. We are so happy that you had a good time here with us. Also delighted that you enjoyed the cake. :-) We feel very blessed to live in such beautiful surroundings and are happy to be able to share these with guests who know to appreciate same. Sorry that you felt stressed with the 9 am check-out. Being part of Failte Ireland's COVID-19 safety charter requires us to do a considerable amount of cleaning and sanitizing. We appreciate that we ask guests to leave the premises early, but that way you had a really safe and clean environment to call home for the period of your stay and the same goes for the next guests. :-) We very much enjoyed having you stay. Let's hope the weather will play ball again the next time you plan a visit to beautiful Graiguenamanagh. All the very best, Andrea

My extended stay has been so relaxing. Andrea & co. are very inviting, helpful & accommodating. My apartment is spotless with everything you could need. For nature lovers it's a haven filled with beautiful flora & fauna whereever you look. The village is on the doorstep and the locals are very friendly. An
idyllic location for anyone who enjoys a ramble or more serious walker with it's proud mount brandon as a backdrop & the gorgeous barrow River. Thank you for everything Andrea Catriona & Poppy🙏🌻

Clean, comfortable, self-catering accommodation within walking distance of Graigue The accommodation is spacious (we are six) well-equipped, and comfortable.
The site has beautiful gardens, plenty of space, with things for the kids to make use of like table tennis - great touch. Definitely try the pottery workshop with Carmen!

We had the pleasure of taking a pottery class with Carmen which was a true delight. Not only was there lots to learn and we certainly upped our skillset, we also had tons of fun experimenting and were able to create quite a few pieces that we previously would not have accomplished.
Carmen is a great tutor and customises her teaching to the student's requirements and wishes. The atmosphere in the pottery was cosy, welcoming and we felt extremely comfortable and at ease from the very first moment. The premises are lovely and set in a very quaint landscape which projects tranquility and serenity.
Thank you for this lovely experience - hope to return in the not too distant future.

Lovely spotlessly clean cottage full of character set in idyllic gardens. Warm and gracious host Andrea was so helpful with ideas for day trips suitable for us with our dog. Easy to locate and arrival access hassle free, not to mention the delicious homemade loaf waiting for us. Comfortable beds, very well stocked kitchen facilities and all within easy walking distance for the town. Location itself is beautiful and a great base with many places less than 40 minutes away. Thank you for a lovely holiday, thoroughly enjoyed our stay, highly recommend

This is our second time staying at Mt Brandon cottages & we definitely return. The house is spacious, comfortable and really warm. It was spotlessly clean & well kitted out. We were lucky enough to have a pottery lesson with Carmen on site which was great fun. Graiguenamanagh is a stunning place with wonderful hikes, river walks and great pubs!! Andrea is a superb host and made us feel really welcome, it's a real home away from home.

We stayed in Mount Brandon Cottages in mid-August. We chose the cottage because it made a great base for exploring the local countryside. We are keen cyclists and there's fabulous hilly terrain in Carlow and Kilkenny.
The cottage was clean and neat with adequate supplies for two adults and one child. Free WiFi was great for plotting the days activities. Andrea made the place very homely and was quick to respond to any questions we had.
If you like outdoor activities there's plenty to do in the area, walks along the Barrow and up Mount Brandon, water sports on the river and quiet roads with plenty of hills if you like a cycling challenge! Graiguenamanagh has a good Aldi and SuperValu supermarkets within 1.3km of the cottages. Due the COVID-19 restrictions there were fewer eating out opportunities in the town.

Dear Helen, Louis and Roisin! Thank you for your kind review. As always we are delighted you had a good time at the cottages and that you enjoyed the great outdoors. You were not kidding about what you said re the hilly terrain of the surrounding area... We have cycled through many a small laneway around here and have struggled our way up many a hill on our tandem. :-) Thanks again for staying with us and here is hoping we may welcome you again in the future. All the very best and stay safe.
