Had a lovely stay here this weekend. The hotel is a charming country house with gardens and the food was amazing both dinner and breakfast. Alison and her team of staff were fabulous, friendly and even loved the feral chicken Erica! The is a lovely old pub The Bay Horse down the road with a beer garden and the inside is old and quaint. Would recommend this hotel and we will be back

My stay was very brief, checking in late following a party, but I had a super stay. This is a charming country house, in a lovely rural setting & it was a delight to pull back the curtains & look out over fields & countryside. Burythorpe is a really nice, tranquil village, with many good walks & a fabulous pub (The Bay Horse). It is close to Malton & a short drive to York. My room, Kirkham, was quite spacious & beautifully decorated to a high standard. Decor is stylish & well kept throughout the hotel. Staff were absolutely wonderful & I send special thanks to the lovely young lady who assisted me to my room a little worse for wear (me not her!!).I didn't dine at the hotel on this occasion but have in the past & food has always been very good. A delightful country house stay.

We had a lovely one night stay recently on the way home from Whitby and it was a great spot to break the journey. It's in a very peaceful location not too far from Malton. Our room was huge with a comfy bed. Really friendly service too, and a lovely breakfast. Not too far from Malton either - the hotel was able to book us a taxi into town so we could have a drink and dinner before getting a taxi back, and Malton itself is great with a nice range of high quality restaurants.

We stayed here for two nights on DBB and it was really good. Our room was fresh and airy and we slept well in the comfy bed. The evening menu was good with meat, fish and vegetarian choices. The breakfast was varied with the option of fruit and yogurt, cereals, juice and hot food and all very nice. The surrounding area is very picturesque and there is a small pub about 5 mins walk from the hotel. Great place.

Delightful old country house in peaceful idyllic setting. Lovely outdoor areas to sit and chat in. If you like an equine theme - plenty of old racing prints decorating the walls. Friendly staff always willing to go extra mile. definitely one to return to!
