Having researched Burythorpe House, I was aware that the hotel was possibly a bit upmarket for two cyclists cycling the Yorkshire Wolds for four days & carrying all of their gear in two small panniers but booked it as it suited our itinerary perfectly. Despite entering a bit wet & windswept we were made to feel immediately welcome by Darren who stored our bicycles & showed us to our room which was small but fine for our limited needs. A drink in the beautiful lounge & food in the restaurant; we were both more than satisfied with the menu & what we consumed. A lovely breakfast in the morning & we were off again into a headwind but thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We just love this hotel. The hotel is beautiful, the scenery amazing and the food is delicious. We stay 2 or 3 times per year and we love it so much that we've booked our wedding here for next year. Alison and the rest of the staff are friendly and very accommodating, nothing is ever too much trouble. It's a VIP experience all the way!
Booked direct for midweek and got an upgrade to Easby room. Excellent ensuite. Great view. Only quibble - bed very soft. Time for a new mattress? Enjoyed drink in comfortable bar. Meal OK from very limited menu - nothing special. Excellent breakfast. Enjoyed stay in this attractive country mansion.
Absolutely wonderful place, came for a wedding at nearby Horsham Hall. Staff in particular Tracy really made it special. Nothing was too much trouble coupled with a really friendly, funny professional attitude. I hadn’t made breakfast on tbe last day and Tracy asked if she could make me something and bring it to my room which was really thoughtful…unfortunately due to the nights festivities I didn’t feel up to eating. Truly beautiful place, great staff and delicious breakfast….will definitely return!
So pleased we returned. Our last two visits were a little disappointing. We've been coming here for nearly 10 years now and it's been fabulous - the previous two visits left us feeling a little disappointed in the rooms, food and staff attentions. But so pleased to find this is all back to amazing. Very friendly and professional greeting, the room was fabulous and very clean indeed. The food was excellent and the service was perfect. Look forward to coming back soon!
went for afternoon tea today, it was absolutely brilliant we were greeted by a open fire with a large tray set out in front of it we sat on very comfy sofas the food was really nice with fresh home made scones that was still warm, the, the hotel is set in some beautiful surroundings, the staff are absolutely brilliant and even made my wife an old fashioned hot chocolate as she does,nt drink tea nothing was too much bother for them, i would certainly recommend it to anyone thank you so much to you all
This lovely little hotel is in the small village of Burythorpe near Malton, the staff were friendly and helpful, our room was a good size, very clean and the bed was comfortable, the shower was amazing, however they only give you bath towels which were way too small bath sheets would definitely be better!! The breakfast was lovely with a good choice however they did run out of certain things! There is a small restaurant where you can have an evening meal, the food was good although choice was limited especially if you are vegetarian. The bar area was comfortable and prices were reasonable. If you didn’t want to dine in the hotel there is a great pub within walking distance in the village and the food was great. We throughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again.
Stayed here a few times Loved it - Super setting - great staff - good rooms. A lovely new outside area has been added also a bar area in one of the lounges which unfortunately is not so good looking! Sadly though on our last visit we noticed a standards had slipped. The reception hall & stair carpets needed replacing - worn & dirty - not a good first impression plus the shower tray in the bedroom had mould round & was leaking. Shame to let standards slip as Burythorpe is a special place.
The room we had was wonderful. Large super king bed, great mattress and down pillows. The bathroom was modern and spacious and the separate kidney shaped bath a treat for those who enjoy a bath. The room was spotless. The grounds are well kept and would be delightful to pass time in , weather allowing. Location is remote, but close enough to Malton and York, by car. Breakfast was ok , but not spectacular. Fruit salad was fresh. Juices were basic and the bread used for toast a shade tastier than carboard. Eggs benedict were good. Given the price of the room, I would expect a better breakfast. We did not eat any other meals there. Staff were helpful and friendly
After a long an successful days shooting at nearby Raisthorpe Manor a warm and friendly reception awaited our shooting party, the house was absolutely stunning with well kept gardens and grounds in a beautiful setting. The rooms were well equipped and absolutely spotlessly clean, the showers were outstanding like standing under a waterfall…so refreshing. We all ate in the restaurant and were more than satisfied with the outstanding quality and quantity of the food, I can recommend the sardines and the venison, cooked to perfection. Well done Alison and your team on providing sterling customer service as a business owner I know how important it is to provide this and sometimes how difficult. Thank you. We will return next year
