This is a really lovely place to stay. Very warm, extremely clean well equipped with everything needed to prepare meals. The surroundings are beautiful. Staff very good Cannot fault this place .The staff outside the reception very all very friendly. We were not pushed into anything unlike some other Diamond resorts. We had a wonderful time.

I visited the Hall in November 2016 for my sons 21st birthday, we booked three one bedroom apartments for a night and also had a large family meal in the Hall. The key comment is that the photos on the website do not do justice to this property. Due to the great rate and the photos my family were apprehensive...

As my daughter had an interview day at Lancaster University we decided to book Thurnham Hall as an apartment worked out a lot cheaper than two even very basic hotel rooms. What we weren't expecting was a sitting/dining/kitchen area that must have been over 30' long plus two very large double rooms both en-suite with high quality showers and one...

We booked a 2 bedroom apartment here and got a very good deal. From the moment we arrived we were treated really well. Samantha on reception was extremely helpful and friendly as were the other staff we came into contact with. Our apartment was in the main house and was superb! Very spacious with all the facilities you would expect...

Among the better choices in Lancaster. Good spacious room, comfy beds and a decent restaurant with plenty of character.A good gym, nice pool and a duck pond as well! However, the service standards leave a lot to be desired,

Booked two nights here as a post Christmas break for my partner and I. We only live 25 miles away. Very easy to find, the Hall looks very handsome as you drive up. I'd booked a one bedroom accommodation and was very impressed with our little cottage just off the courtyard. (Number 11). Nicely laid out with a conservatory, it...

I stayed here as a last minute overnight before a meeting. Had a special rate for January. The hotel is quite remote down country lanes but well worth searching out. It consists of a beautiful main building housing a bar and restaurant and apartments spread out around the grounds. I was shocked upon checking in to find I had been...

The apartment rooms are spacious and come with full kitchens. Lounge, dining area and kitchen are open plan and ours had a beautiful large window that looked out of the front of the property with great views. Bed and sofa bed comfy. If you're not a member of diamond resort/RCI the extras will soon become pricey; wifi, pool etc all...

Hi, I just wondered if you actually stayed at the same Thurnham Hall as me, and my family! We go once a year to Thurnham for a week long holiday, usually around Christmas time, but these days, always in the winter. We go in the winter as there really is nothing better than sitting in the 'Great Hall' in front of the gorgeous and atmospheric enormous log fire. There is a welcoming bar in the Hall, which hardly ever gets noisy (except for the occasional times when they are having a Christmas firm's do in the library next door, or a wedding reception), and it is very much in keeping with the rest of house. This means that you can snuggle up in one of their comfy armchairs, with your favourite book, and your tipple of choice (red wine for me, followed by a cup of coffee), and chat to other guests if you like, or just hunker down, on your own, or with your family (one recommendation that I would make, is that if you have children, particularly youngsters, you may prefer to holiday in another Diamond Resort, particularly "Pine Lake", North of Lancaster, - it is nearer the lake district, but as you are not far from the M6 at either place, it doesn't take long to get to the lakes anyway, - Pine Lake is at Carnforth, {of Brief Encounter fame} and is more set up for young children, with a good indoor play area, especially for them, plus the usual swimming pool, playground, ducks! etc). Once or twice a week, in the Hall, there is a pianist, and it is lovely to sit back, whilst feeling toasty warm in front of the fire, and listen to the lovely music he plays. I cannot imagine what room, or apartment, that you were staying in, as I have never come across accommodation here that is not only very comfortable, but also extremely clean (whether in Britain, or abroad, the Diamond Resorts that we have stayed at have always been immaculately clean). At Thurnham we have stayed in an apartment directly above the Great Hall, which was of course very in keeping with the style of hotel that Thurnham Hall is, on another occasion we stayed in a small, but gorgeous one bedroom cottage, attached to the main building, which was very cosy. These days we have to stay in the modern, and extremely high standard apartments that are elsewhere on the site, as i am now wheelchair bound, but the standard is so high, that I wouldnt mind living in that apartment all of the time! You also mentioned the toilets, I presume you mean the ones in the mansion house itself? I can only imagine that you only like modern furniture and surroundings, as the said toilets are quaint and in character with the whole house, I don't feel old when I use them, just more like I have stepped back in time, to a gentler era. Our holiday to Thurnham, is our indulgent, doing nothing but the three 'R's (relaxing, resting and reading, in this case) activities. Of course we do venture out occassionally, as the scenery is lovely, and Lancaster itself is a very interesting small county town, but we love returning to that lovely Great Hall room, and as we often stay there near Christmas time, we unwind in front of the twinkling lights of the big Christmas Tree. Thurnham Hall gets 5 stars from me, and in case you are wondering, I am a genuine guest, and not an employee! I am very sorry though, that you didn't find the magic in the place that we do, maybe action and adventure holidays are of more interest to you, I could easily recommend other Diamond Resort hotels to you, for those sort of holidays, if you are interested.
