We stayed in a studio apartment over this weekend - the apartment had everything we needed, very well equipped. All the apartments are well spaced out in small groups - made it much nicer. The receptionists were great, friendly and helpful + the lady at the spa (we played table tennis) was very friendly too. We ate out at The...

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in March. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that we had been upgraded to one of the two suites! The suite had a fully equipped kitchen / dining area, two bedrooms, shower room, ensuite bathroom; all topped with breath taking views of the Lancashire countryside! The building and facilities are...

I went with my partner to Thurnham Hall, it was the 3rd time I had been on a Diamond resort holiday. The staff on reception were very nice, but when we asked if they could contact Diamond with a specific request ie the 'lost in the post' Diamond card we were told that they were unable to do this. The...

We've just returned from a wonderful weekend at Thurnham Hall. Our two bedroom apartment was spacious, spotless and well equipped. We had a ground floor apartment and my daughter was over the moon to find that we were visited daily by the ducks. The on-site bar is a lovely place to enjoy a glass of wine in historic surroundings. The...

Sitting having breakfast in the conservatory watching the multiple families of ducks wondering around was great. The leisure facilities were spot on lovely warm pool perfect for just...

I cannot rate my stay here highly enough. I booked very last minute as a break from work on my own and every part of my stay was perfect. I had a basic studio room- but as far as I'm concerned it wasn't 'basic'. It had everything and more I could possibly need! Including a coffee machine, blankets and even...

Thurnham Hall is just that , a great place to unwind and relax. The apartment I stayed in was big comfortable with just about everything you could need and very clean. The grounds are amazing to walk around, and even had my own group of baby ducks following me around. The main hall has a good bar which is reasonably...

Thoroughly enjoyed my one night stay here. The apartment was very spacious and modern, the setting idyllic. I took several strolls through the grounds and enjoyed the peace and the wildlife: ducklings, squirrels and a song thrush to name but a few. The food was excellent and a very high standard. The staff were all very helpful and accommodating. My...

We stayed here whilst attending a wedding close by. We booked a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. We were not disappointed. The apartment was lovely, the furniture was perhaps a little dated, but the place was spacious, clean and very comfortable. It had a large tiled hall, perfect for taking off and storing muddy boots after a hike. A large...

We love his place. Completely relax as soon as we enter the gates and forget about life until we leave. This time we were in room 17 and I have to say it was fabulous and so well maintained. I love the grounds and watching the ducks and squirrels peg around the gardens and it nice to have a slow...

Hi, I just wondered if you actually stayed at the same Thurnham Hall as me, and my family! We go once a year to Thurnham for a week long holiday, usually around Christmas time, but these days, always in the winter. We go in the winter as there really is nothing better than sitting in the 'Great Hall' in front of the gorgeous and atmospheric enormous log fire. There is a welcoming bar in the Hall, which hardly ever gets noisy (except for the occasional times when they are having a Christmas firm's do in the library next door, or a wedding reception), and it is very much in keeping with the rest of house. This means that you can snuggle up in one of their comfy armchairs, with your favourite book, and your tipple of choice (red wine for me, followed by a cup of coffee), and chat to other guests if you like, or just hunker down, on your own, or with your family (one recommendation that I would make, is that if you have children, particularly youngsters, you may prefer to holiday in another Diamond Resort, particularly "Pine Lake", North of Lancaster, - it is nearer the lake district, but as you are not far from the M6 at either place, it doesn't take long to get to the lakes anyway, - Pine Lake is at Carnforth, {of Brief Encounter fame} and is more set up for young children, with a good indoor play area, especially for them, plus the usual swimming pool, playground, ducks! etc). Once or twice a week, in the Hall, there is a pianist, and it is lovely to sit back, whilst feeling toasty warm in front of the fire, and listen to the lovely music he plays. I cannot imagine what room, or apartment, that you were staying in, as I have never come across accommodation here that is not only very comfortable, but also extremely clean (whether in Britain, or abroad, the Diamond Resorts that we have stayed at have always been immaculately clean). At Thurnham we have stayed in an apartment directly above the Great Hall, which was of course very in keeping with the style of hotel that Thurnham Hall is, on another occasion we stayed in a small, but gorgeous one bedroom cottage, attached to the main building, which was very cosy. These days we have to stay in the modern, and extremely high standard apartments that are elsewhere on the site, as i am now wheelchair bound, but the standard is so high, that I wouldnt mind living in that apartment all of the time! You also mentioned the toilets, I presume you mean the ones in the mansion house itself? I can only imagine that you only like modern furniture and surroundings, as the said toilets are quaint and in character with the whole house, I don't feel old when I use them, just more like I have stepped back in time, to a gentler era. Our holiday to Thurnham, is our indulgent, doing nothing but the three 'R's (relaxing, resting and reading, in this case) activities. Of course we do venture out occassionally, as the scenery is lovely, and Lancaster itself is a very interesting small county town, but we love returning to that lovely Great Hall room, and as we often stay there near Christmas time, we unwind in front of the twinkling lights of the big Christmas Tree. Thurnham Hall gets 5 stars from me, and in case you are wondering, I am a genuine guest, and not an employee! I am very sorry though, that you didn't find the magic in the place that we do, maybe action and adventure holidays are of more interest to you, I could easily recommend other Diamond Resort hotels to you, for those sort of holidays, if you are interested.
