Where do I start when writing my review of The Star Inn? What a little treasure it is. Calm, peaceful, relaxed, comfortable and much much more. The hosts are a delightful charming couple and just could not do enough to ensure our comfort. The Inn itself is a museum in it's own right, and (I was told) with it's very...

In a remote country village it was nice to find a cosy little pub,the food was of a good standard particularely liked the fish and chips served with mushy peas served in a tiny Le Creuset pot. The host is rather bohemian looking but was the perfect host

They could not do enough to accommodate us at the Star Inn. Which room would suit you best? An extra bed? An Iron? Sticking around to feed you a little later than we would normally? What time for breakfast? Nothing is too much trouble for this lovely couple running a quaint, quintessentially English, village B&B that doubles as a gorgeous...

My friend and I meet most Friday's for our weekly noggin and natter, to put the world to rights.!! It was my turn to drive and discover somewhere new. Having Googled Sulgrave, as it was approx. 20 mins away, and put in "pub" up came the Star Inn. What a 'Peach', food was out of this world, and the staff...

The Star Inn is worthy of a visit even if it is just to meet the Hosts. We had a very genuine warm welcome but not over bearing. And if you think the landlord and landlady have character then just wait until you meet Harvey. The amazing Harvey came out to meet us in the car park and he just...

Found this delightful inn on a day out to Sulgrave. What a pleasant surprise! The pub itself is a lovely mix of tradition, nostalgia, quirky and artistic with something of interest in every corner. The landlord was very affable without being ingratiating . He seemed to genuinely like people. as it was a warm day I didn't want loads to...

In a beautiful part of England, the Star Inn was a fantastic find. Everything you imagine from a traditional country Inn, and we were lucky enough to be there on a Wednesday when the menu is priced at £5.00 per head. Look, this is not fine dining - it is however fresh local (and some home grown) "pub grub" that...

We have visited this country family pub several times before, every time they have been warm welcoming and have exceptional service with incredible food and drink. Due to this, we chose to have our wedding reception here. This was really the best day of our lives, not just for the occasion, but it was made so easy for us by...

Booked a room whilst doing field work in the area and completing some long reports in the evening. Had a fantastic stay, Paul and Sue were wonderfully welcoming hosts and cooked a mighty fine breakfast and dinner. Came here on business and by the time I left I felt more relaxed than I ever have done after a week at...

Our room was ready and waiting when we arrived early at 10.30 am - extraordinary!! We were greeted warmly; nothing was too much trouble; fresh milk was brought up for us for a cup of tea whilst my daughter and I dressed for the wedding we were attending at Sulgrave Manor; later wine. We slept soundly in comfortable and warm...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The three hundred year old 'Star Inn' sits in an idyllic village on the borders of South Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire, ideally located for visiting the many attractions available in the heart of England or simply escaping for a peaceful and relaxing weekend in the country. Believed to be the only know pub to be visited by the legendary actor John Wayne whilst on tour of nearby Sulgrave Manor, the ancestral home of the first president of the United States George Washington. On a visit to Sulgrave in 1889 the honourable William Taft, Chief Justice of America said, "Sulgrave is a charming little spot only hidden in the loveliness of its seclusion, with the old Star inn by the roadside a relic of bygone days when comforts were plain and ale was plenty." The Star is where people matter and whether you are staying in one of our comfortable en-suite bedrooms, dining in the oak beamed restaurant or just having a drink you will be made to feel welcome by all the staff who will ensure your time with us is enjoyable. Gillie and Barry welcome friends old and new. ... more   less
